  1. yes, yes, the rumors are true; I'm a CSIS spy trying to uncover a fishy covert operation between Alaska and Russia (yes they have the internet that way up North).

Currently I'm in Anchorage and tonight I'm cathing WEEN kick off their West Coast tour! Too damned stoked (even though I'm partial over live Ween, but nonetheless it'll be a blast)! I'll give a report on Monday.

As for the Hershel kids, they are big time GBV fans, and snuck backstage to see them when GBV were opening for Urge Overkill at the Phoneix in '96. They struck up a friendship and collaborated here and there (1st one: Evan sung a GBV song at the Opera House in '97 during a GBV gig).

  2. whoa, never thought I'd see this band mentioned on this board.

shame on you Luke! And you claim to be a Guided BY Voices fan?! ;-))

I know the band: they were comprised of Ayal Senior (my best friend) and Evan Weisblot. They put together a backing band and toured it up with GBV back in '98; Bob Pollard even contributed to their debut album. Ayal quit and the band went defunct. NOt sure what Evan's up to these days but Ayal just got hitched, still records (in a psych vein) and makes short films.

Where'd you come across the lyrics to I'm Pop?

  3. The Shining

Necrophobic (never saw it, nor would I, but the preview freaked me way the fu©k out!)

    Phantasm II

Creepshow (especially the story where Stephen King who plays the farmboy; when he realizes he's become nothing but a plant and then shoots his head off; that disturbed me when I was young)

    in terms of suspense:

Leviathan (Peter Weller) and Seven had me shaking at the end

  4. Bands that will never reunite with entire/original living members:

    Pink Floyd

    The Smiths

    The POlice

The Misfits (with original vocalist Glenn Danzig)

    Phish ;-)

    Soundgarden

Creed (not too sure on that one ;-)

it just won't happen! End of story! Get over it!

but, hey, what do I know; I always thought the Pixies would never get back

  5. GO SEE GWAR! That sh!t will blow your mind. Saw them twice back in the early 90s and if I ever get a chance again, I'd do it in a second!

    PURE CHAOS and Fun!

Warning: wear rags to the show or a white shirt you don't minds getting tye-dyed

  6. that's amazing!!!

I'm so stoked for the BLUES FOR ALLAH bonus material:

    BONUS MATERIAL:

    12. Groove #1 (Instrumental Studio Outtake)

    13. Groove #2 (Instrumental Studio Outtake)

    14. Distorto (Instrumental Studio Outtake)

    15. A To E Flat Jam (Instrumental Studio Outtake)

    16. Proto 18 Proper (Instrumental Studio Outtake)

    17. Hollywood Cantata (Studio Outtake)

damn that sounds delicious! "DISTORTO" > sh!t, and I thought "Destro" was a bad ass name

  7. when I was in grade 9 I loved White Zombie's debut album (it was so bad-ass at the time, '92) and it had numerous samples from b-movies planted all over the album.

Years later I caught Faster Pussy Cat, Kill Kill at the Bloor and I was floored at how much dialogue I recognized from the White Zombie album. Afterwards my friends and I endured a Russ Meyer marathon. That guy ruled (in his own genre!).

    RIP

  8. why doesn't TVO get hip and release "Read All Aboot It" on DVD, or offer it as a pledge-drive bonus when you donate $60. While they're at it, "Readalong" (talking Boot, not the dude from Star Trek) would be a sweet bonus

  9. I first saw Ween on the White Pepper tour... Despite dying to see them live since Pure Guava days, the show for me was alright at best. Then I saw them on the Quebec tour. I'm not saying they're not good live; I mean, I had a good time and all, but for me what makes WEEN the sh!t lies within their albums.

I have the dvd and I can't say it does anything for me, except the acoustic bit and whipping out "I Love You" on the spot.

I'd be up for 2 sets: one mini acoustic set and an electric set.

I wish I could of seen them with the Sh!t Creek Boys though!!!

  10. yes, I have seen Ween live twice. They just don't do it for me live. I love and prefer the brown vibe on their albums. It takes me to a different world. If they still rocked it live pre-Chocolate and Cheese dayz with just Dean and Gene, that'd be a different experience!

"Heady One">> Zero, is that you Luke? Is that a pic of you?

  11. Friday 8-Oct Girdwood Alaska

    YABA DABBA fu©king DOOOOOOOO

Ah Man, thank the Heady Lord above for granting me something exciting in the live music realm this Fall out here! Even though I don't dig live Ween (to me, their briliance shines on their albums) this will be a rocking night.

  12. JZ was ILL son! Everyone was grindin' and bumpin'; it was good times! Big pimpin' has a slick beat; 99 problems was nice; I'm curious what sample was used to back the track (it sounded like an instrumental track off the KIDS (larry Clark film) soundtrack. Overall, best guest performance I've witnessed! JZ in Brooklyn... what could be more apt than that?

  13. who else has this gadget? It rules!!

    Ok, here's my question:

I scored a 40 gig Ipod, however my laptop only holds 27gigs; what I want to do is copy tracks from cds onto my Itunes, upload them into my Ipod, and then delete the tracks from my hard drive to free up space without having them deleted from my Ipod the next time it connects to Itunes? Know what I mean?

    thanks!
