  9. I've been a fan of Bob Lefsetz for a couple of years now but I find I agree with him only about half the time. And in this post I agree with about half of it. Yes, the Beatles' current promotion team is sadly out to lunch, and there is a suspicious new release of Beatles product every Christmas season, suspicious if you're cynical like I am. And while I have zero interest in actually attending "Love" as a theatrical event, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the CD. What a trip. I wouldn't recommend buying "Love" unless you already have 75% of the Beatles' catalogue. But once you know the original stuff well enough to spot the connections, "Love" becomes a fun game of "spot the reference" for Beatles nuts.
  10. btw, notice how bradm appended the old list onto the new one. this is most definitely the best way to do a second volume, and if it was copied in turn, it would prevent duplications as just happened. who wants a second volume of themed songs containing songs from the first?

So, here's a new, [color:purple]oh-God-I-pray-it's-simple-enough, rule regarding repeating a theme: should you decide to reprise a theme, you must find the first version (using the handy page markers in the list) and quote it clearly before you start the second volume. The goal is to create a second volume, a follow-up collection if you will, and wouldn't you be pissed if you walked into the record store and the second volume had some of the same tracks as the first? What a rip-off! So please, when reprising a theme, take the trouble to find and copy the original version, so we can all see clearly and easily what has already been chosen. Got it? Got it?? *********************************************** Now, to sum up the other simple, basic rules that even slow-witted plankton could understand: You only get one choice per album. If you're going to pick two, you might as well pick four, or maybe all twelve, and then that's no fun for anyone, so YOU GET ONE CHOICE PER THEME!. Please continue to edit your posts to make sure no-one gets missed in the speed of things and work together to make sure the lists develop fairly, as you have been doing regardless. Whoever finishes one list gets to start the next. Where it is clear someone doesn't get this and just finishes a list and then splits, a lucky person may start the game up again, but only after a reasonable time has passed and we know the original person is NOT around to start another theme. Tip: during the workday, this game can move FAST! This has been tons of fun so thanks for playing and let's go for 200!!!

    I work alongside a lovely woman. Having said that allow me please to rant about her. This person is a habitual sound-maker. Mumbling to herself, talking to her computer screen, arguing with her pen, asking herself questions out loud, humming a different tune than that which is on the radio, or humming along to the song on the radio without knowing how it goes. Not enough? Oh then there's the tendency to lapse into "accents" when speaking (even to herself), which in turn leads to a sort of pre-linguistic utterance of grunts and tones, usually exaggerated and repeated until I get up to just leave the room. Oh, she likes to talk to the radio, argue with the news reporter, the weatherman, the commercial, whatever. Oftentimes a single word will trigger a repetitive combination of much of the above. So, a commercial might have the word "cafe" in it, and for the next two or three minutes, I have this woman mumbling "cafe.... ca-fe.... ca-fey..... CA-fe...... CA-FEYFEY...... cu-fuy...... ca-fu...... cu-fa......", usually in exaggerated grunts, pseudo-Mexican accents, and interspersed with the hacking cough of a committed and proud smoker. Did I mention that when not making sounds, she sometimes likes to just smile and stare? "uh, what's up?" "oh, nothing, just looking at you." f-u-u-ck. This essentially is my day, everyday, Monday to Friday.
