I'm not sure what happened to Fat Burt, and I'm not sure why Shady Grove isn't a ticket location.
I'll be sure to pass on Julie's Shady Grove info to Mark Wilson.

It's looking like a great May long weekend up at Frontier Ghost Town! Lots more info is now up on the web site:
http://www.cometogethermusicfest.ca/
Yes, LMP's site is not being used any more. It has nothing to do with her web site creation skills, which obviously are superior to those of the person that created the current site!
And there is no juicy gossip re: her site not being used any more ...
Although it's not fancy, hopefully people will be able to find the information that they need on the current site (not that they couldn't find info on LMP's site).
Back to the music ... it's a sweet-looking lineup in my humble opinion ... lots of stellar Canadian talent!

It's definitely a 3 night weekend, including an acoustic stage on Sat. and Sun. in addition to the main & saloon stages.
Friday night is Outside The Wall (Pink Floyd tribute) on the main outdoor stage, followed by Harvard Mouse and Caution Jam in the saloon.
Lots more info really soon ...

I spoke with Mark Wilson last night, and more information about the festival will be put up on the festival web site in the next day or so.
http://www.cometogethermusicfest.ca/
Mark Wilson now has the printed tickets, and will be mailing them out to stores today, so they will be available starting early next week. Tickets are $65 in advance. As of now there is no plan to sell tickets at the gate. Outlets will be posted on the web site in the next day or so.
On a related note, I will have some tickets with me at Mavericks in Ottawa next Saturday night when I'm there for the Inglewook Jack / Harvard Mouse show.
The Frontier draws near ...

I've got to believe that the Allmans will be headlining this show. I've seen the Allmans at Darien Lake a few times, and they fill the place with an opening band.
I stand corrected after visiting ABB's web site ... I'm not meaning to be critical of Tom Petty, but it's kind of sad that ABB with Derek Trucks Band need to open for anybody.
Here is the info from the ABB site:
Event Date: Tuesday, August 15, 2006
Start Time: 6:00 PM *
Band: Allman Brothers Band
Venue: Darien Lake Performing Arts Center
Notes: As Special Guests of Tom Petty; The Derek Trucks Band also appears
Parking Lots Open: 3:00 PM

Also, from the reports I have seen so far it looks like Tom Petty will be the headline act in Darien Lake (mightbe a double bill, but it seems Petty will be playing after ABB)
Hey Doug, it surprises me, but I think you're right after going to the ABB site and seeing this info about the Darien Lake show:
Event Date: Tuesday, August 15, 2006
Start Time: 6:00 PM *
Band: Allman Brothers Band
Venue: Darien Lake Performing Arts Center Venue Web Site
Location: Buffalo, New York Weather
Notes: As Special Guests of Tom Petty; The Derek Trucks Band also appears
Parking Lots Open: 3:00 PM

Thanks for the kind words Sara ... have a blast tonight!

It's a short drive my friend. I'll open a nice bottle of wine for you if you come down. Johnny Winter will be mind blowing and I've heard those Fat Cats guys can really play.
Wi!!y my friend, the problem is the weather ... it's to blame for the fact that I fired up the bbq as soon as I arrived home, and had a few more than a few refreshing beverages while tending to it ...

This is one of those times that I wished I lived in Hamilton!

Has anybody on this board been to the Niagara Falls casino venue? It's pretty new I think, built in the last few years. I'm guessing it's a sweet sounding venue. But it will be a drag if people aren't standing/dancing.
I'm guessing that ABB will be headlining the Darien Lake show. I've seen them at Darien Lake a few times, and it has always been pretty full with them headlining. But those shows were on Saturday nights 3 to 5 years ago. I wasn't at the last ABB Darien show ... I think it was 2 years ago.

Trey is not opening the Darien Lake show. The Allmans are.

Hey Ian, happy birthday to you, and thanks for laying down those groovy bass lines that keep us all dancin' and shakin' our bones.
I look forward to seeing/hearing you again soon!

OH MY GOD!
! You're really going?!? Holy shit dude; you just made my entire weekend! Never mind that; you just made my entire summer!!!
Wi!!y, you sure know how to make a grown man feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

Hey Baj ... I think I've finally figured out who you are in real life ... duh if I've got it right, and duh if I've got it wrong!
Friend of Greg (and Naomi)? Friend of Rich? If yes, I can't believe it took me this long to piece it together. If no, I can't believe that I still can't piece it together.
Let me know if it's a "no" and help me piece it together!
Piece,

Josh, it would great to see you and your family there! I will likely be flying solo, as Liana has to work that weekend. Having said that, my son Nyell is a huge Deep Banana Blackout fan ...
Zero with Kimock is one of the big musical draws for me, that's for sure.
And spending some festival time with Willy & Leanne (and special guest
) and with Dave & Deb (and the children if they go) will be a huge treat!
Tigger, I couldn't tell from your post ... are you going?
Peace, Mark

With all the talk of summer festivals, I could resist the urge no longer and just bought my ticket to this one!

I guess if the band members are shocked about the rumour, that's probably not good news.
Darn ... I was hoping that I'd just found out about one of our upcoming gigs on jambands.ca!

I second that emotion.
Thanks Greg for all that you do to get this wonderful music out to people.

Good luck to everyone involved as you head into this show ... my senses tell me that it's going to be a special one ... I can't be there in person, but will be there in spirit.

I just got an email from Mark Wilson, and tickets will be available in Hamilton at Shady Grove. Here is his email to me:
"Hey mark,
... just an oversight on my part. Of course tickets will be sold at julies. I will be in touch with her early next week."
As for the festival being shut down, I'm very optimistic that it wouldn't get shut down, as adjustments are being made to keep it to a manageable size (i.e. 500 people), and to ensure that the outdoor music finishes by 11 p.m. to avoid noise complaints.
As for the lineup, a conscious decision has been made to focus on Canadian talent, for a number of reasons. We've got some great Canadian talent that will be a treat to hear ... yes I can go to a Burt show or a Fatties show in a bar, but that just doesn't compare to seeing either of those bands outside! Or Caution Jam in the saloon! Think of this event as a celebration that includes and bands and the fans that form the core of the southern Ontario jam community.
I'm looking forward to a great weekend at Frontier Town!
Peace, Mark
