  1. Just read this in the Citizen. Typical Steely Dan dry humour I think. http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/features/blues/story.html?id=ad87f708-301d-453b-911b-e15c511e88ab&p=1
  2. Yeah, no kidding. Maybe because we did less wandering yesterday and spent most of our time up close watching whole sets. We were camped out at the Steely stage about 45 minutes prior to show time. Punk found us towards the end of the set and we were able to share some special moments together with the Dan. Aww.
  3. STEELY DAN!! SHOWBIZ KIDS! PARKER'S BAND! KID CHARLEMAGNE! I think this is everything they played, setlist is not in the proper order though but close. The Fez jam The Royal Scam I Got The News Two Versus Nature Showbiz Kids Hey 19 Gaucho Parker's Band Do It Again Home At Last Josie Black Friday Peg FM E: Kid Charlemagne Adrian Belew Trio was awesome too. Ladytron were very good.
  4. TELL ME ABOUT IT!! F THAT. I think the secret got out. Anyone who saw my Creemore asked me where I got it. It was like that Motts Clamato commercial. Back for more soon. STEELY DAN MOTHERFUCKERS~!
  5. P.S. They ran out of Creemore by 8:30.
  6. I thought you hated high school. Go see Ray Davies!!
  7. I managed to continue my streak of missing Wintersleep at every festival I attend against all good intentions, including standing in front of the stage right at the time they were supposed to perform. Alas. Corb Lund was enthusiastic. Sonny Landreth was determined. Dave Bidini was awesome. Baobab was eclectic. Alan Touissant was moving. And Feist was spectacular.
  8. Jason Smith is still out there. Yay? Nay? I've always liked him but what does he have left?
  9. Even the beer tent to the right of the main stage (facing it) had incredibly different line lengths depending if you were toward the right or left when facing the tent. (Confused?) Anyway, it pays to do a little hunting around vs. standing in a monstrously long line.
  10. Why don't you take the bus?
  11. Thanks for the tip! Like phorbesie, I find the other options very disgusting.
  12. I thought the Hip sounded just fine where we were, about a kilometre from the stage.
  13. I wasn't feeling it but WOW... Bluesfest is back. Right off the bat I have to say that the biggest improvement is that you can now traverse between all stages without having to check-in / check-out, meaning you can bring your booze from stage to stage to stage to stage to stage!! Yes! Five stages this year, the new one being the Roots stage, located over the hill from the Blacksheep. It's wicked with tons of centre viewing space, on a hill so you can see it all, with the Ottawa river in the background. There is some sound bleed between stages though. For the most part it wasn't noticeable when the bands were playing at full volume but some subtle moments allowed another stage to come through. Music-wise, we got there in time to see TV on the Radio's entire set. Decent music but not much stage presence. Then a little Blind Boys of Alabama. It was ok but wasn't really feeling it. Cassandra Wilson and her band were very good, the highlight of the night surprisingly. Would have like to have seen the rest of the set but we went over to catch the end of Taj Mahal. Not bad but pretty routine, pleasing blues. Finally caught the last half hour of the Hip who drew a massive crowd and played to them well. A final note on lawnchairs. They were not an issue on the night, except when it was pitch dark and trying to navigate the Hip crowd I bumped into a few unfolded chairs not being used by their owners. What's the point of guarding space at that point? A very minor complaint though. See y'all tomorrow for the 4th of July!!

    Jose Gonzalez

He's from Gothenburg, Sweden. I bet Alfie will be there!
  15. There is no Primus / Widespread Panic conflict.
  16. Hookers and blow, what a way to go.
  17. Head to the Byward Market and look for something that catches your eye. It's going to be the only remotely "hopping" part of the downtown area at that date and time.
  18. Allen's, on the same block as the Music Hall, is a nice place. I had a great tuna steak there once. Couldn't be more convenient in terms of location. http://allens.to/
  19. I like Stillman's on ice leadership qualities. He was a perfect "second" to Alfie in that regard. Fack, I woulda paid him.
  20. Dont do that MoMack. You would be missing other music like Primus............. Save a place for Booche too.
