Bluefest hasn't started yet so no idea what this year's scene will be like. That said, I wouldn't worry too much about lawnchairs at Panic. Snoop Dogg being on the same stage is a big advantage because you know his fans aren't going to stand for lawnchair bullshit. And once Snoop's set is done you'll have about an hour and a half to stake out a good spot in front of the stage for Panic. Save a place for me.

Seems awfully quiet on the Canada Day festivities talk. What's everyone up to tomorrow? I think this is the first time in 3 or 4 years that I won't be going to a "that place" party so I plan to check out all the downtown sights and sounds that I've been missing. So no real plans, just gonna check out all the action and drink snoots.

Yeah really, for a few extra bucks per dish, a place like the Gastropub is great value for money. Why pay almost as much for something half as good? Anyway, you said no Gastropub, so a couple of restaurants I can recommend in that area (really Hintonburg) would be Cafe Venutto and Cafe Mio, both on the same block, near Lauzon's music. One place that's getting a bit of buzz lately is Vina del Mar, a new-ish Chilean place on Wellington. I've never been but it's on my radar. Service seems a little quirky but food reports have all been good. The atmosphere harshed my buzz and I found it very difficult to get into the show. Then the acoustic portion of the set took the energy level down for me. I really enjoyed the encore though.

Pretty bad I would say. I almost saw a fight break out when one lawnchair drone stood up and pushed the guy in front of him pretty hard. I was stunned. Not to mention the other half dozen acts of passive aggression that I witnessed. I just got back from a heavy metal festival where the maturity level far surpassed what I saw last night. I hope some of those people are feeling pretty shameful today.
