  1. Yeah, should be fun. The Horeshoe site says that they go on at 11. See ya there...
  2. Step 1--Unplug the unit from the wall Step 2--get a screwdriver and take the top off of the case Step 3--take out your 5 cd's Step 4--plug the unit back in and power it on, then try to re-load your discs Step 5--If the unit will play the discs again, take them all out, unplug the unit, put the lid back on again, plug it back in and you're all set. It's not uncommon for a 5 disc changer to jam up. If you take the discs out and it still won't play then you likely have a problem with the player itself. MP3 players and hard drives have a tendancy to break as well as do all things electronic but if your player is pooched then do whatever you think is best.
  3. Ha! Radiohead circa 1996, that reminds me of friends who were all like "It was all downhill for Wilco post Summerteeth", only to find out that they were so, so wrong later on. No accounting for taste I guess. In all fairness though, if you drink the water and breathe the air in Brantford for long enough you will start to digress and turn all cro-magnan and shit so it all starts to make sense. I was born and partially raised there so believe me I know what I'm talking about here. Anyways, great show from start to finish from my perspective. Everything seems a touch too well rehearsed but to great effect so you really can't knock them for being a bit polished. Otherwise, you may as well do 2 sets if you're going to squeeze half of the show into the encore, I would rather settle in for a nice intense hour ride than think it's all basically over, no it's not, OK here comes some more etc. Hard to settle in after a pont but I loved every minute of it all the same. And also, why did they blow their brains out on the light show at the very end??? That one very saturated effect that they did was unbelievable and I think that if you have that shit ripe and ready to go it's unfair to wait until the very end to bust it out. A few extra doses of that shit would have made my year. Anyhoo, here's the setlist: Radiohead Toronto Setlist 15 Step Reckoner Optimistic There There Morning Bell All I Need Pyramid Song Arpeggi The Gloaming A Wolf At The Door Faust Arp No Surprises Jigsaw Falling Into Place Idioteque Climbing Up The Walls Nude Bodysnatchers 1st Encore Like Spinning Plates Videotape Airbag Talk Show Host Street Spirit 2nd Encore House of Cards Planet Telex Everything In Its Right Place Hope someone taped it.
  4. Very cool. What did you think were the highlights? Great festie by the way, well laid out and not too outrageous if you get on the tix and hotel early.
  5. Sorry, I forgot to mention that Umphree's McGee RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Umphrees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I just did a quick search to see if this is old news or not but it looks like not. Anyways, if you like the whole classic cosmic rock thing you should definitely have a listen to Howlin' Rain. As is often the case it's a bit difficult to describe but I would think that it's safe to say that if you like the Grateful Dead, the Drive By Truckers and My Morning Jacket then you would likely enjoy these guys. One of the guys from Comets On Fire has started it up if that means anything. Anyhoo, I have listened to both of the albums that they have out and have come to the conclusion that it's a solid listen. Magnificent Fiend is the new one but the self titled is quite good as well. They're getting mixed reviews but I think the quote "ashen faced hipsters need not apply" pretty well says it all. If you're a music snob who only does indie rock then it might not be for you. There are a bunch of people on the board who I thought might enjoy it hence the long winded post. And, while I'm on a rare rant here, if you don't happen to have or own a copy of the Jayhawks Rainy Day Music you should make that the first item on your agenda for today. I was going to put a post up while I was having a shit cocked epiphany listening to this one post Sat. Night Hillside but I was having so much fun that I really didn't care to share if you know what I mean. At any rate, it's an absolute masterpiece. Later...
  7. You are definitely best to stick with the same brand and if possible series all around when you are doing surround. The idea is that if the drivers are matched, this will allow something to sound consistently the same as it moves around the room. There is a smaller pair of bookshelf speakers than the ones that you had shown: Smaller Polk's It looks like RTIA is the series, if there is any way to stick within the same series that would be your best bet. The subwoofer is not as crucial but the rest should be matched as closely as possible.
  8. Glad to see that The Slip forum has finally been killed, there was just never enough news or excitement to justify it in the first place. Anyhoo, here are the setlists from the 2 shows that The Slip played at High Sierra: The Slip 7/3/08 Vaudville Tent, High Sierra Music Festival, Quincy CA 1. intro 2. You Might Say 3. Aptos 4. Boy In The Bubble 5. Airplane/Primitive 6. new brad tune 7. Paper Birds 8. Get Me With Fuji 9. new? intrumental > ? > Pass It On 10. Brad talks, guy in green suit walks on stage 11. Sometimes True To Nothing 12. Children of December Notes: Some songs unknown, vaguely familiar or possibly covers. The Slip 7/5/08 Big Meadow Stage, High Sierra Music Festival, Quincy CA 1. intro jam > 2. Ooh Belle 3. intro > 4. The Soft Machine 5. Boy In The Bubble (Paul Simon) 6. new Brad tune 7. Even Rats 8. new instrumental? > 9. new tune or cover(s>) ? (w/Pass it on jam) 10. Suffocation Keep 11. drums & harmonica jam > 12. Cowboy Up > jam > 13. ABC Jam > jam> 14. Before You Were Born The first set was very exciting and high energy, not perfect by any means but it was clear that the boys were psyched to be playing again. I thought that The Boy In The Bubble was somewhat weak both times that they played it but it was cool all the same. In particular, Mark seemed to really be hamming it up and putting the extra effort in. With the new tunes that are being introduced we can only hope that they are going to be back in a big way. Regarding Suprise Me Mr. Davis, we saw part of the first set that they did as well as the late night. In general I would say that they are really nothing special at all and although I am completely into the singer/songwriter thing Nathan Moore doesn't really do it for me at all. These were the first shows that I saw but from everything that I had heard prior to and after seeing them a couple of times my conclusion was Surprise Me Mr. Davis=meh, The Slip=Awesome. That being said, the boys were absolutely playing their hearts out and that makes up for some of it. Also, they played a set in one of the campgrounds unannounced late night on the Saturday I believe which was very cool where they played ABC 123 and 19th Nervous breakdown as well as I belive some new tunes. The ABC 123 was cool as hell to see, unfortunately no recordings were made that I am aware of. They also did an an acapella tune at the late night where Brad did the lead vocals that was absolutely amazing, the kind of thing that brings a tear to your eye, just completely beautiful. That's that I guess...

  12. Howdy All! Apparently this just came out, no doubt some of you went and might be interested. It says "almost sold out" on the dry goods site...
  13. Was it Pure Pop that you were at in Burlington? If so, no doubt.
  14. I wasn't sure if this was US only or not but apparently it's all of North America. April 19th which is tomorrow. Indie record shops rule in my world but if they don't mean shit to you 364 days a year I guess this is a good excuse to get out and check out some physical media for a change. Here are some of my faves: Toronto-Soundscapes/Rotate This London-Grooves Kitchener-Encore Records Sarnia-Cheeky Monkey Ottawa-The Turning Point Montreal-Beatnik Buffalo-New World Record www.recordstoreday.com Canoe Article on Canadian Stores

  20. Anybody catch this one??? I've had a cassette sitting in a milk crate for some time now and since they have become one of my fave live bands I have been wanting to dig it out, dust it off and transfer it to digital. Anyways, that day is today and it's been a blast to schwill a couple of ales and check it out. Surprisingly enough it sounds pretty decent all things considered, there's one rough spot that may need some help but otherwise it's quite listenable. The setlist is pretty rough but here's what I have: Misunderstood Forget The Flowers That's Not The Issue Someday Soon (Uncle Tupelo-"Roll Me Under The Mattress"???) Red Eyed & Blue I Got You> ? ("Why Would You Wanna Live In This World"???) Passenger Side I Must Be High ? ? Kingpin Ottasite -Encores: Box Full Of Letters Casino Queen Gun I'll likely post it once I track it out and fix up anything that requires it.
  21. The show is at Call The Office(216 York St.) for any of the out of towners who care and want to know where to go to see said show...
  22. Sounds like his new album is good although I've not seen or heard it myself. It looks like the Mod Club has a typo on their website and lists Greg Louris but both Ticketmaster and Gary's MySpace page confirm the show. The Jayhawks are for sure one of my all time favourites, definitely looking forward to this one: Gary Louris Mod Club Theatre , Toronto, ON Sun, Mar 30, 2008 08:00 PM
  23. There are a couple of clone wars animated DVD's that have been available for awhile which are really kick ass. Hopefully the movie is good but you never know it could be cheese too...
  24. Sorry, my bad. It always helps to read the top line...
