  1. Hey babe - Not sure if I've even been on my most frustrating computer since Sunday, but I'm really glad I could share your birthday celebration with you, and I look forward to making many many more memories over our lives as friends!! Sorry the wish is so late, but it's heartfelt and sincere Luv ya lady! Peace and hugs - Karen
  2. Yeah Velvet, they announced it on Q about a month ago, and it's a win-only situation (ie. no tix for sale). The rest of the lineup kind of sucks, except for Goddo I guess, but MW has all the original members I think (from the 2nd album on). I was a huge MW fan in high school, and I'm hoping they remember how to play "Lip Service" and "Waterline"...that is, if I get in. As for the boat, I'd think it'd be easier to find a ticket than a boat - but good thought nonetheless
  3. At the Docks as part of Q107s 30th Anniversary Party? Ever since the show was announced, I've been trying to win tickets on the radio, on their website, etc., but to no avail. I'm on vacation this week and am figuring on going down to the venue to try for an extra anyway, but it'd be easier if I had one beforehand - any extras? BTW, if anyone is going, I called the venue yesterday and they said doors at 6:30pm, show at 8pm, over by 11pm. They also said that Q had given away too many tickets, so if anyone got there too late, after they reached capacity, they wouldn't be let in. I find this hard to believe, but that's what they said.
  4. Congratulations to you! And yippee for more girls being born! BTW, did you plan it so that she would always get to have a long weekend to celebrate her birthday - what wonderfully kynd parents! Much love - Karen
  5. Hey girl, hope you did it up right!! Twentyfour and there's so much more eh? Up and at em at 10:36am though, so either you're not allowed to sleep in, or you're still raging from last night! Whichever it is, I hope you're enjoying yourself You know, word has it, it remains you're birthday until you go to sleep...milk it for all you got! Anyway, it was a blast meeting you a couple weeks back and I sure hope I get a chance to hang with you and the NR real soon (gotta get me a new car though to get up to Browntown, 'cuz mine's leaking oil real bad). Peace sister and see you soon
  6. Aw shucks guys, thanks - can hardly wait for this one, but the band's not the only reason And, naturally, I couldn't think of a better vibe for the show than the one put on when kc and the Pepperjack's crew are hosting and co-presenting the party...like, who else really gets IT?!?
  7. Not sure whether this was already posted, but for those who'd like to share in a celebration of Darren's life, here's the info sent to me - Hey y'all! This Saturday, friends of our friend, the late Darren Kerr, will be putting on a memorial concert in his honour. There will be tons of musicians who have played with Darren over the years, including members of Crawlspace, Yellow Butterfly, Two Stone Throw and Caution Jam. Darren was the founding bass player of the COMA TOAST, an eighties/nineties jam band that toured Canada and provided opportunities for many musicians to cut their teeth in the jam scene. His aggressive bass playing would bring jams to intense climaxes again and again throughout each performance and his solid, raspy vocals would carry the band and resonate through everyone's mind. He was a lot of fun to play with, a sweet and kind guy and we of course miss him a lot! So come on down and celebrate Darren's life with us. The concert will be this Saturday, Feb. 24 at 9:30 p.m. at the Black Swan Tavern, 154 Danforth Avenue, Toronto, ON M4K 1N1. There is no cover for this event. Peace Tom
  8. Hey captainsunshine - You could work nightshift, then you'd still only sleep a couple of hours, but you wouldn't get up until midnight (or you'd end up wearing off the booze and coming down before you'd ever get to sleep). BTW - love your avatar
  9. Hey Ari - I hope those Thai folks know what they got over there, 'cause you're missed on this side of the world (I miss your enthusiasm raging at shows, though I've been kind of missing the shows period myself these days). And I've always wanted to visit Thailand and Nepal and that whole part of the world, so I'm looking forward to your photojournal, so that I might live vicariously through you BTW - Do you have every Mule album with you on your ipod?
  10. Little out of touch over here, but I'm awfully glad to hear things are looking up for you Luc (I saw one of your posts too late that you were looking for a "safe, clean" place to go, and although my place seems relatively safe, it is none-the-less overrun with mice, and therefore not clean in any sense of the word). If you're cool with lots of mice, you have a place to stay here if you're ever in need in the future (though I'm confident that it'll be for different reasons). Peace and hugs - Karen
  11. Holy crap, nice one Bri :) - I was starting to wonder what you had up your sleeve for 4/20, especially since it's on a weekend so I finally get to go again!!
  12. At 62, he may have mastered it, but you can always strive...it's good to set goals
  13. Saw this thread a few days ago, but couldn't post at work. Just wanted to throw in (and please forgive any Quebecois spelling errors) that the last couple of times I went to Quebec City, I stayed at a little old victorian mansion (overlooking the Parc du Gouvernors, the Chateau Frontenac, and the Dufferin Terrace) called the Chateau Fleur de Lys. On the street right behind was also a fortress, the name of which escapes me. It was a very quaint little romantic place, and reasonably priced, as the first time I went, our bathroom was outside the room across the hall. I don't think we shared it though. I also loved the fact that they had solid wood shutters on the windows so that you could block out all intrusive early morning sunshine if you were up late the night before (which we were). I came upon the phone number recently, but then I lost it again. Anyway, the place was inside the walled city of Old Quebec, but overlooking Lower Quebec. Just down the street was an amazing traditional Quebecois restaurant called L'Ancienne Canadienne, which had the hugest portions. With the doggie bag, our brunch, A La Carte was enough for the day...but I avoided the rabbit stew (another tradition). We also enjoyed a restaurant called La Couchon Dingue (The Silly Pig) which was in Lower Quebec by the St. Lawrence River. I adore QC and I was always charmed by how hard the French-speaking people in Quebec would try to accommodate us non-bilinguals. One very sweet host when asked what the soup du jour was replied "oh madam, that is the soup of the day"...and he was in no way making fun of me, I swear. As for live music, don't know. First time, we lined up forever to get into the Bulldog...mistake. We got to the entrance and the bouncer told us we couldn't come in with Sorels on because they took up too much room. On the second trip, we went for I think the first jazz festival there. They had four stages set up around town, but all the music played at the same time. So, that's my story
  14. Hey Aaron, either way, whatever happens, you know I got your back buddy...but do remember, we've had many a good time without being messed up (albeit usually on the way somewhere to get messed up). Still, you've got a strong will and I think you've got it in you to break the pattern. I think I agree with zero though, that it may be a good idea to take a break from any old haunts for awhile. Anyway, chin up, stay healthy and keep smiling! See ya soon - K
  15. on Sunday night at the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel, I was able to get a single ticket on TM last night for US$35 (and another one came up after I purchased mine)... Just lettin' y'all know, 'cuz last week singles popped up, but then nothing again until last night. I finally made the decision to grab it!

  17. Right on - I'll be getting my tickets for this on my next trip to Hamilton!! And I love Bobby Lee Rodgers. I think on the first Codetalkers CD I heard (a demo that was attached to the cover of Hittin The Note I think) I fell in love with "Niagara Falls" and "Ferry Boat," both BLR tunes I think - I love his voice. Thanks for bringing them back Brian!!
  18. Not nearly enough Sag's in the world - thank god for us!! Happy birthday William, and so cool to get to know you (especially now that I know we share a birthday) - hope your party's still raging
  19. Holy smokes people - what a sweet surprise!! Thank you all sooo much for the birthday wishes (and to New Rider for remembering). It's the greatest thing to be a part of such a kind community and know such amazing people, and it blows my mind that there always seems to be more great folks to meet. And awesome William, we share the same birthday!! I knew there must be something to that aura of "cool" you had - just wish I was drunk last night too Thanks a lot guys - love you all!!
  20. From Derek Trucks Bank newsletter - The Derek Trucks Band will be a featured guest on the A&E program "Breakfast with the Arts" which airs this Sunday December 3rd at 8 AM Eastern. The program will include an interview with Derek and performances by the DTB. (Well, might just be rolling back in from Rochester at that time after the Mule show)
  21. Now I'm definitely officially excited - WOOHOO!! Actually, I've been excited for weeks, but never near a computer that I can leave cookies on (or have time to use). Would really like to hear a Gameface, Larger Than Life, I Shall Return, Saint, Don't Step on the Grass, Monkey Hill, Left Coast Groovies, Slow Happy Boys, World of Confusion, Brand New Angel, Brighter Days, Separate Reality, etc., but someday I'd really like to hear Warren sing Since I Been Loving You. But really, it doesn't matter much what they play, I know I'll love it on some level...some shows I leave with a huge grin on, sometimes not so huge, but it all adds to the overall texture and variety of my ongoing Mule experience (just over 9 years of it for me now, since that first TO show at The Opera House back on August 16, 1997). I think this will be my 20th show (and 21 if I decide to get my ass to Rochester - that Harro East Ballroom looks sweet on their website). Looking forward to seeing everyone gettin down later tonight!! Let the fun begin!!
