  1. I love "I Will Sing You Songs".

I can't wait til "Off The Record", a song that never really does it in the studio....

I fuggin' love that song on the album!! Definitely a cranker in the car....the way it disintegrates into the the laid back drum machine beat jam at the end is so wicked.

  2. funny - had a hip-hop session on the go last night, we took a break and turned it on just in time to see Hulk Hogan's daughter win 'best grille' award(wtf indeed...not that I have a clue whose is best but c'mon...) and watched the Federation's bit. Afterwards the MC i'm recording said 'oh fuck, this is the demise of hip-hop...' I mean really it's been steadily watered down and declining but that was the death rattle...

  3. lovin it. Y'know, since 'the cult of ray' i'm pretty sure i've seriously dug every one of his solo releases. Much more solid song-to-song than the average pixies disc even.

Might be time to go on a frank black bender...Maybe i can time my drywalling so it's done in 8 albums...

  4. The bulk of music journalism is just so repetitive and ill conceived, based on cursory reads of bios and stilted email interviews. It's a fucking crock and Exclaim! as great as it's getting just doesn't have balls. Forget about Chartattack. Pitchfork is for intellectual tyrants and I should know. Hence this media our media makes me proud at times at least for the intense engagement we have with one another and the musical community.

please tell me then your review(s) aren't destined for Echo's stagnant pages.....

there was a certain point I was hazily pondering which musicians bi-pedal ornament would meet your solar plexus this year and mentally voted Ian Blurton so it must've been after or during C'mon's set...funny as I had the conversation with a couple people who were pondering vaguely the same thing. Is getting booted out worse than getting booted? Less physical than philisophical I guess.

  5. les even made fun of it stating that it was the 'matinee' performance...I remember missing a TMBG show a couple years ago under similar circumstances...I missed the first couple notes but got in just in time. Fun show, couple primus teases but no tunes, and two of the most amazing drummers ever...they never stopped!! The one played a full kit...very full kit, and the other had vibes, tablas, toms, hand drums, craziness! Also the first time I've ever seen anyone pull off a distorted guitar solo on a ukelele....

  6. Damo's unfortunate role in Can was that of flailing about and channeling yoko ono and flopping his hair about. I mean really, I'd rather see Holger Czukay play the friggin' shortwave radio than sit through 2 hours of Damo. The real reason to go is the magic assembly of musicians that always seem to be part of it.

I mean really, a Japanese guy, singing in Broken English, fronting a krautrock band. Sheesh.

And if no one has heard Can send me blanks and I will mail a 2 disc best of I compiled. Seriously, the shit.

  7. Fifty-fifty! are you kidding me? That is the aural equivalent of a merry go round on acid....not you on acid, the merry go round! The organ solo in the middle of that(and the guitar solo after it) are friggin' brilliant. Took awhile to grow on me as the vocals are outta control but it's there.

How about 'I have been in You' from Sheik Yerbouti? That's a Zappa dog for sure...
