  1. Wow....saw Revolting Cocks a l-o-o-n-g time ago, right around when they covered Rod Stewart's 'If you think i'm sexy' - I think it was the Beers, Steers and Queers tour. Ministry used to put on a hell of a show, them at Lollapalooza was a memorable event, as was the riot at Maple Leaf Gardens in 94....Al Jourgensen is a fantastic frontman - hopefully they still tour with those big-ass cow skeletons....

  2. The house is in Guelph, just off downtown(5 minute stumble)

No ones beating down my door and i'm not going to list them further on the net till the weekend, those are the same prices i'm going to ask in US $$ elsewhere....so still some time to get back to me. I figured there are enough bands/like-minded audio folks on this board to snap up some bargoons.

Princess-is Trevor a friend of J.Hunsberger? Shaved head? am I thinking of the right guy?

  3. Ok looks like Denise and I just got a house, christ this whirlwind is picking up speed....

of course by 'bought' I mean increased my debt load by a couple orders of magnitude.

anyhoo, looking to clean up around here in anticipation of the move, first place I'll start is the studio! I'd rather you fine folks make use of this gear than some random ebayers...Of course i'm flexible on prices and trades are an option as well...although i'm not looking for other audio/studio stuff. :P

    ok here goes:

    --------------------------

    2x Canare 50' 2T2s Cable...like new...high quality stuff... $70/both(that's the price of one cable!)

    --------------------------

8x 25-35' XLR cables...all in great shape, one has some duct tape on it i'm too lazy to

clean off. $50 getsa ya all 8. Get yer cheap on!

    --------------------------

Sennheiser e903 Instrument mic $100...Awesome for guitar cabs/drums/congas/percussion,

especially snare - super durable for live sound and all Sennheiser mic's have a 10 year

    warranty. Like New.

    --------------------------

Sennheiser 865 Vocal Mic $200 Super cardioid, tons o' feedback rejection, perfect for stand

    out vocals. Excellent condition.

    --------------------------

Audix OM-5 Vocal Mic $150 Again another dead mint vocal mic that I'm just not going to use.

Hypercardioid and very detailed - perfect for female vocals and detailed voices.

clip and Windscreen, i've got the original box around here somewhere too...

look like. PM me if yer interested, or email me...

  4. I had a great time this weekend even though I had to come and go for work on Saturday....Friday the workshop between the Quebecois band and Dya Singh was great stuff, took awhile to get going but really gelled after awhile...Weakerthans were...well, weaker than.

Arcade Fire was a definite highlight for me-really mesmerizing show that was full o'conviction. Stars were good and rocking - but nothing spectacular...

Sunday daytime nothing really grabbed me-drifted between a few stages, hurting a bit from the night before, went into town to take the dog for a run and headed back for the evening...which was a bit of a jumble. John and the Sisters kicked some serious ass - what a great vocalist to complement Kevin Breit and crew....I missed his workshops so I needed to catch this bunch....jumped out a couple songs early to head over to BSS, which was quite spectacular and ever-evolving, caught a handful of songs from up close and far away, but cut it short to head back over to check out Nathan Cole and catch up with some friends...Since Nathan Cole got his band together I can't get enough - amazing songwriting with a honest voice and a rocking band...Don Kerr(Rheos) is producing his debut album and I got a sneak peek...it's phenomenal...definitely one to watch out for as he's just going to take off at some point.

Meandered back to the main stage to check out Sam Roberts, he did rock the place quite hard...felt like Canada's AC/DC a couple times with the straight up drummer pounding away and the guitarist on the speaker stacks...but the re-appearance of a wasted K-OS and his subsequent 4 line 'freestyle', coupled with an attempted 'get the locals involved' drum circle section for his big tune took a lot away for sure.

Partying down with Scottie K and Diane Saturday night, multiple run-ins with KevO, AD, Marge, Dave/Deb(can't remember which mouse you are Dave...)So many friends of mine from town and beyond were there...good times....

  5. Holy fack I just remembered something - I was there for the Tall Ships Festival in 2000, it's every 5 years....so get back there at the mid/end of August and all the tall ships sail into the Het Ij behind Central Station and anchor there for a weekend...fuggin amazing!! Some of the huge Slavic ships are crazy...you can wander around the harbour and there are Heinekin watering stations set up every 100ft...There will be night/day concerts, gay pride parades, tons of parties everywhere....plus if yer wandering around the Red Light district at night there are tons of packs of different sailors in uniform walking around...it's fuggin surreal...takes it back in time to a 'good times' port city for a bit...

not alot online but here's the official link:

  6. Hey for the Canal boat ride there has been a bit of 'hand me down' info that all my friends and I have used...go to the comedy club "Chicago Boom" in one of the pleins(someone probably knows this square) Sign up for the canal ride there - they are no charge, it's in a small boat(groups of 8 i think-not those big ass glass tourist things) and you can bring doobs and beers....the boat pilot/tour guide is usually a super kind Canadian or British person who works at the comedy club, and you just pay a donation at the end - $5/$10 whatever you feel...lasts a couple hours and is nice and laid back.

And yeah barney's breakfasts are great British/NA style eggs/meat/etc and the tables are long bench style ones...forces you to make friends... everytime I was there I met interesting folks!

  7. actually, i'm a sucker for the doo-wop so I do have Cruisin with Ruben...

    Far as I remember it's these 3:

    Tinseltown Rebellion.

...ya know, I actually own 'You Are What You Is' and like it as the 'conceptual continuity' is at it's peak in the flow of this one...but Zappa got tea-bagged by the 80's right in the taste department, and the fuggin synth trumpets and shit drums drive me nuts....which leads us to #2...

    Ship Arriving Too Late

Absolute tripe, enough said. Oh sorry you like Valley Girl? go to hell.

    #3Jazz From Hell.

Oh look you're already here. I imagine the Jazz in Hell actually sounding better.

(ok, sorry gotta footnote this one - I -love- "What's New In Baltimore" and have it on a couple live shows...great anthem!)

...of course i'm not counting rarities re-releases, and I don't have that last DVD-A release(but have heard it quite a few times...the Easy Meat is un-fuggin-believable)

And Marge, yeah I know lotsa people in that place, I think because his tunes cover such a huge spectrum, there's lots to be turned on AND off by. Check out the late 70's stuff - my fave musicians and some funky tunes - Sheik Yerbouti being a fine example. For some mid-70's picks try out One Size Fits All and Apostrophe/Overnite Sensation...
