  1. definitely overheating. If it's beeping before shutdown then it's something the computer recognizes as a problem, so can't be diodes or actual parts, it's gotta be something with a sensor - RAM checksum could be a culprit but usually that shows at boot up. Power supply gone bad maybe but 99% chance it's overheating as that's where the sensors are. Get a can of spray air in there, blow out all the fans. Unplug the computer, use a small paint brush and brush the fans, heatsinks, then spray air the sh!t outta it. Take apart the power supply, do the same. Look at the intake in the front of the computer. clean it. boot it up, make sure all the fans are running. check to see that all heatsinks are firmly attached. good luck!

  2. it was definitely one of the funniest moments of the year, top of the hillside weekend for sure. seeing phil collins catch a boot between the eyes/lukes tits was a beauty. And Azzolini's banter right after that consisted of a warning to all the ladies in the crowd to stay away from the "phil collins shirt a$$hole...he has diseases" hehehe

  3. Damn some mighty fine suggestions! Trev that live Baker/Kuti disc is phenomenal, and Brain Freeze is a hard to find Shadow gem, sea and cake are often overlooked(same studios and drummer as Tortoise)

So I never hear anything about Alice Donut - i've been on a fugazi/nomeansno/alice donut bender lately and damn they are one fine and creative group. They even do a cover of "War Pigs" with a trombone....

And i've been on a big cali-rock bender lately fueled by Fu Manchu and more importantly Brant Bjork who rocked my fuggin ass off in Hamilton. Turns my toyota into a muscle car when I turn it up.

And an old favourite has to be Mercury Rev. Their lineup has changed over the years but I love all the albums.

pickup "Yerself Is Steam" ...make sure you get the bonus CD which counts to 99 tracks and includes the bonus "Carwash Hair"....

  4. I was talking to the bass player from Truths and Rights the other day. He was in the elevator of my office building. He's a courier by day. He seems pretty excited about the band, and was talking about some 'big' gig in Cambridge coming up.

Big gig in Cambridge will be NYE at Fiddler's Green...it will be recorded, possibly a DVD...friend of mine is doing sound for them these days.

  5. It was probably Dave Tolly - tall guy, sat in on acousticats a few times I saw them in 2001. Funny enough I work with him now(and Joel's dad)....and way back in the day i bought a keyboard from Joel-learned MIDI, sampling and programming on that, it was the first piece of audio gear I bought!

  6. at the very least people please plan on coming to Kitchener....i've got the ability to piece together a killer PA...finally the reinforcement these guys deserve.... and full light system...parcans, lasers, moving fixtures, liquid lights...lotsa goodies to create an atmosphere...nay, a NEROsphere inside the Lanc. uh yeah. jeezus cheezus...anyways it's my first post in awhile.....got some warming up to do apparently.

  7. hey mulemomma I was at the show at lulu's too....it was tea party and lowest of the low opening up....somewhere I still have a Blind Melon touque from that.

good stuff...some teenage anthems in there for sure

  8. yup Allegro Non Tropo...my fave. Fantasia on acid....info on the net about it but I own a VHS copy and ripped it to an divX file if anyone wants it on 2 CD's....

ALso Ninja Scroll, Akira and Ghost in the Shell were the holy trinity of anime for awhile, and still all kick ass to this day.

  9. In Brantford they use baloney to roll their blunts....all that tabacco in Simcoe county has them saturated and they can't get a buzz off it anymore...baloney's the only thing that'll do it.

  10. not a caption, but without a beard Mr. Barr looks like a bastard child of Hux and David Byrne.

How about 'Leahy with a fan' or, uh, wait a minute racking my brains for phil collins edge....uh, "I can feel luke coming in the air tonite"??? no wait bit too graphic, uh oh i got it....

"Oh, think twice...it's just another day for you and me in paradise...."

  11. Wow Brad...i was sure I was the only one who had that book. I love Harlan Ellison and bought the book after ordering other Giger stuff from Morpheus(they handle alot of his stuff.)

There's another Jacek Yerka book of just art called 'The Fantastic Art of...' - it's good, but doesn't have the impact of the Ellison stories coming to visual life.

Another Morpheus gem is 'Heavy Light' by De Es Schwertberger.
