Look--a new and exciting recurring thread--Pet Peeve of the Day!
I'll start:
Dear Chapters,
I was in one of your stores recently and happened to glance at the alphabetized listing of your various departments when I noticed that something was awry...
Pray tell, are you actually selling "stationary"? If so, how much do you charge for the opportunity to stand/sit perfectly still?
Next question: Where do you keep the dictionaries? If a store that sells books and, presumably, a volume or two on spelling/grammar (including those pesky homonyms) cannot get their signs right, what hope is there for the rest of the english-speaking/-reading/-writing people of the world?
Forsooth I do despair,
Julia
P.S. Also, Dear Chapters, did you know that one of your exemplary employees enjoys bag-sniffing on the weekends? It's true--his name is POG and he sniffs bags.

That dance is SUCH A TRAINWRECK. Is she auditioning for a spot with the Lucky Charms Irish Jig Band?
-
Apparently nobody's ever explained to her the genius of Rolaids--in the states, they even have stinkin' strawberry!
-
1.99 is the one I just picked up...
I miss these guys, but I miss the Seapods more...probably cuz I only ever saw GSW the once and I saw the Seapods about 25 times. ::

Well Stoned Phillips, if you must know my personal business, here you go. On Saturday it's my mother's 53rd Birthday party. And on Sunday I have yet to decide if I'm going to go to Gov't Mule or watch the World Series.
Excellent, Timmy! Enjoy! Happy Birthday to Momma B!

I wish I could go to these John Prine shows, but I've got things to do.
What the hell kind of a post is this? "Things to do"? "THINGS"? Like what? If you're going to post something like this, at least share the things you're doing. ::

I think one of the most startling (and selectively ignored) facts presented in "Super-Size Me" was the evidence that healthy, organic school lunch programs cost the SAME AMOUNT as the 99% processed, low-nutritional-value lunch programs.

I'm so psyched for this you wouldn't believe it.
He's such an un(der)appreciated lyrical genius. If you haven't heard him, I highly recommend checking him out.
That being said, the post above cracked me up about "coming out for drinks before the show." Not that there's anything wrong with a few drinks before the show, heaven forbid, but getting liquored up for John Prine is somewhat akin to Bender suggesting to Brian Johnson that they "load up, party" before the Physics Formal....

The Signal..omigod..every time I picture Gary in the back of the Jeep executing the signal, it cracks my sh!t up. hehehehe.

Thanks Bouche--I was looking for the "Pearl Harbor sucked" love ballad lyrics on the internet the day after I saw it and couldn't find them anywhere..brilliant!
-
Excellent--the weekend is best for me, but since it would be at her house, she can prepare as lazily as she likes since she'll be on holidays.
I'll email you when I know for sure!

My friend in Brampton is gauging interest from her friends at work and we're going to talk about it this weekend and we'll let you know.
She was very interested--she just wants to make sure its not just going to be just her and me (not that we're not really fun...!)
One question--will you still be doing parties around the Christmas holidays? My friend is a teacher and so that's obviously the best time for her. But we're flexible.

The show sounds like it was great. And I know what you mean, Stoned Phillips, about them being surprisingly good. They sound so apathetic on their albums, that you almost think the show will be sort of boring. If it was anything like when I saw them they're just the opposite.
You are exactly right!

When Pat Mastroianni (sp?) was getting married a few years ago, he had a stag/doe that he ADVERTISED ON THE RADIO so random people would come and contribute to his wedding.

My friend Matt said he ran into Lucy at a Dead show in the early 90s...and I saw her a few weeks ago on Queen street, looking gorgeous, with a gorgeous child in her arms--it seems wrong that Lucy's a mom!
Also, a friend I was in university with is now the head writer/executive producer of the Next Generation--I wonder if he can hook me up to hang out with Kevin Smith? I freakin' love that guy.

I'm so freakin' impressed with this band.
I had pretty low expectations for the show--not sure why. Even though I really enjoy their songs, I guess I was a little skeptical that they could pull off what they do on their albums onstage and add that something extra that you expect from a live show. Maybe I'm just a jambandsnob. Who knows.
And holy crap were they awesome! So much energy, great rapport with the audience, they sounded amazing--I kinda wish today was yesterday so I could see them again for the first time. They put on a fantastic show.
Here's the setlist--the questions marks indicate songs that I wrote down but are entirely illegible. Ya win some, ya lose some.
If anyone else was there and disagrees with what I've got, please advise--some of the other titles were very nearly illegible as well so I was just giving it my best guess.

There's no such thing as watching too much Law and Order!
YES! I actually have this sentiment crocheted on a pillow...

Yahoo Yashmoo
Yeah Trevor, I'm giving it another chance, hoping that Stoned Phillips is more fun than you!
As if anyone is more fun than T-Bone!! ::

It has not sold out--I just went to Ticketmaster and requested 10 tickets and it was feasible.

According to Yahoo maps, it's 1.1 km.
So there.
-
No problem!
I'm a big fan of the entire progression of bands I noted above...in fact, I just picked up an old GSW cd at the used record store the other day.
In an unrelated revelation, you know you watch too much Law & Order when "GSW" is intrinsically understood in your own mind as the acronym for "Gun Shot Wound"...

Pre-mule BBQ, rain, shine or snow @ my place (1.1 km from the venue).
And by BBQ, I mean drinking in my backyard.
-
Last I heard, The Pancake Party Boys were backing Mary McBride...not sure if that's current info, though.
Lo Faber formed the Lo Faber Band after GSW, playing with former members of the Ominous Seapods. Now some of those members perform as Raisinhead.

If escalators were made exclusively for walking or exclusively for standing, they would not have signs on them that say, quite clearly, "WALK LEFT, STAND RIGHT"--a wonderful compromise for all to enjoy the wonder that is an escalator--whether your individual preference is to walk, or to stand.
