  1. Speaking of Hanukkah celebrations, as I approached the corner of Bathurst and Bloor the other night, I heard some seriously loud music being pumped out...I couldn't identify it, nor could I tell where it was coming from.

Once I got to the corner, I saw that it was coming from a giant RV, full of hassidic Jews (the hats & the curls? is that right?) rockin' out. Hannukah man, in the Hannukah van, spreadin' the joy.

  2. Question?

If you don't do Christmas may I ask if you don't do other holidays as well?

I can't think of one that hasn't been commercialized....

    Valid question...

The only "holidays" I celebrate are birthdays. And though Hallmark does what they can to get their share of the birthday business, a birthday can be celebrated in any fashion or manner one likes.

I strongly believe its important--and I embrace the opportunity--to say, "I'm so happy you were born!" to those near & dear to me. I can't think of a better cause to celebrate than the day someone you love was born...

    :)

Though, come to think of it, I do celebrate St. Patrick's Day...with its sole dedication to getting sh!t-faced and my Irish heritage, how can I not???!

  3. I don't do Christmas.

    I don't shop, I don't give cards, I don't want any gifts.

I have many reasons, one of which is my disdain of the commercialization of the holiday--not that I have any disrespect for people who do celebrate (in whatever form they choose), but I choose not to participate.

Why is it that some people just can't respect this decision?

That's not my real question, that was rhetorical.

My real question is: I have a new boss this year (since January). My old boss was great and totally got where I was coming from (though he got around my "rules" by buying me gifts and giving them to me in January and calling them "Gifts of Appreciation".) So how do I broach this with my new boss?

    Funniest answer wins a prize!!

FYI, I just don't think he'd believe me if I said I was Jewish...

  4. There was a time in my life when I didn't like Dark Star...

I confessed this once to a someone (while we were at a Merl Saunders show at the Zone, incidentally) that I hated Dark Star and he, without hesitation, immediately slapped me across the face.

I know now that it was whole-heartedly deserved.

  5. I have a bunch of stones that used to be on a hemp necklace (it succumbed to a righteous death a while back, in a frayed & sticky mess, as hemp is wont to do after excessive wear & tear).

In any case, I'd like to have a new necklace fashioned out of these stones.

I don't have time to teach myself a new craft, what with all the knitting, crocheting and stamp collecting I have going on at the moment, so I'm wondering if we have any resident hemp artisans?

If so, please let me know what you'd charge to fashion up a new pretty necklace.

    Thanks!

  6. ya but some idiot yelled out play something that doesnt suck again... i wouldnt even listen to the recording... well, of course i would... someone has to shut that guy up damn!

I think the goal was to perpetually pour beer down his throat to keep him quiet, but it seemed to have the opposite effect.

  7. "Nice, with a few naughty marks. Neatness needs improvement. Behavior has been good sometimes, not so good other times. Manners could still use some attention. Was very nice last Monday."

Oh, Santa, you know me so well...oh and fu©k you! How dare you question my manners??!

  10. Hey Kev!

I got a heads-up from Basher that you were looking for me so I stopped by.

Not sure about the Neil Young tribute thing...I don't know anything about that band, and if they're not really good, it's bound to be sacrilegious.

I got a lovely card from you & Carla yesterday--thanks! :) I love mail that's not asking for my money!!
