weezy
Luther Wright and the Wrongs - The Wall (country/bluegrass style) I'm sure most are familiar w/ this already, them being from Kingston n' all... It's awesome.
Jaimoe
Bar none, this is the greatest cover song of all time: " My Favourite Things " - John Coltrane Honourable Mention: " Young Man Blues " - The Who

kung
I've got a certain place for Talking Heads Naive Melody or really anything of there's. So many unbelievable unplundered covers out there. Blind Faith. The Band. Motown. Best cover I've thought of recently is anything by Hall & Oates but particularly Maneater. Brels
A couple just came to mind.. Devo - Satisfaction (Stones) - it's simply a classic Johnny Cash - Rusty Cage (Soundgarden) - not sure how it came about, but it sounds great

Tungsten Gruvsten
Here's some fun ones: Alice Donut - War Pigs with the main vocal line replaced by trombones...fuggin hilarious. Butthole Surfers - Hurdy Gurdy Man They make the warble in donovan's version so extreme.... Cowboy Junkies - The Post This is a Dinosaur Jr. tune-not sure how this ever happened but it's pretty cool Red House Painters - All Mixed Up I can't even say i liked this Cars tune, but this version is so haunting... And the ultimate....DREAD ZEPPELIN!!
bradm
Tungsten talking about horns replacing vocal lines reminds me of: Stairway To Heaven (Led Zeppelin) - Frank ZappaThis is a great one to drop (on its own, without listening to rest of the discs) on people who know LZ but not FZ. The vocals are by Ike Willis (IIRC), so it's not instantly recognizable as Zappa, and it's done with a reggae beat. The guitar solo is done, note for note, by the horn section. It has to be heard to be believed. Aloha, Brad
