zephyr Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Have a friend heading up to Ottawa this weekend - anyone know of any jambands playing or just some good ideas for entertainment? cheers
bradm Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 If you're here Friday night, The John Henrys are playing Zaphod Beeblebrox. They're a really kick-mass straight-up coutnry (almost "alt" country) band. Aside from that, I haven't seen much (good thing I've got something else to do ). When you get to town, grab a copy of Ottawa XPress to get the full listings; it comes out on Thursdays, and it's free. Aloha, Brad
zephyr Posted August 11, 2004 Author Report Posted August 11, 2004 right on, i'll pass it on - thanks
bokonon Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 fu©k ottawa! it's biker bitch barbie for me this weekend! where can i find vegan biker clothes? i need to get me some chaps!
bradm Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 Apparently there's also a "psychedelic rock fest" at The Bayou on Friday, Aug. 13 and Saturday, Aug. 14, featuring The MoonMovement, PressWon, and Butterflies & Zebras. I'm not familiar with The MoonMovement, but B&Z can be a lot of fun, especially if you like the Grateful Dead's "space" experiments. PressWon is a hip-hop troupe, and their rapping may not be the best, but the band is pretty good, with some nice grooves. Aloha, Brad

Alexis Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 don't want to sound like a broken record here, but if anyone sees Del bummin around this weekend could ya let him know to call his friend Julian? the guy won't lay off.
SaggyBalls Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 wow. i hope Del surfaces. When alexis speaks it's generally words of hope and wisdom, not worry.
B & Z Posted August 13, 2004 Report Posted August 13, 2004 MoonMovement have a definite Jefferson Airplane vibe. They play original music with a strong female lead singer and nice harmonies. Steve
