StoneMtn
"Weaponization of Space" aka missile defence and the interplay between Canada and the US. Go to this website for tonnes of info from the Institute for Cooperation in Space: http://www.peaceinspace.com/ You may also want to email Alfred Lambremont Webre, who is the Director of ICIS, and I am willing to bet he would assist you. This topic is his life, and I once brought him to Whistler to discuss the issue here. I have no doubt that if you contact him he will reply. Also: Re... if the dead have any spanish/latin america-related songs, give me the heads up Mexicali Blues comes to mind... (Also, does El Paso count; even though it's about a West Texas town and it's a cover tune?)
Del
El Paso was the first one to come to mind... Mexicali is a better choice...

StoneMtn
If you're doing that, you may want to steer clear of putting any Manu Chao on there..."Welcome to TijuanaTequila, sex, and marijuana..."
meggo
ahahah... i have used manu chao before... but yes i have to be careful. the song that i use does say "me gusta marijuana" (i like marijuana), but it is a great learning tool despite that and it gets the kids fired up. i have a feeling i'm not going to shock these guys... today they were writing about themselves, beginners' spanish (grade 10), and the kids were writing about their favourite things. one girl wrote in spanish that her favourite number is sixty-nine. :: :: ahh what happened to the good old days... StoneMtn
You know, I'll bet we could easily help you throw together an hour's worth of Latin-American related jamband/cool material. Just off the top of my head, I think of "Mexico" by moe., "Spanish Moon" by Little Feat, (pretty much anything by Santana), and I'm sure I could come up with a bunch of others with a little thought. Pumpkinhead
Are you asking if Optimus Prime is happy or a horse? Or is it that you are wondering if he is a homosexual or a horse? Either way I'm not sure I understand . . . and yet I still feel compelled to say . . . [color:"black"]MEGATRON RULES!!
Esau
i need some topics that will stimulate discussion among my grade 12 students (17-18 years old). thoughts? To believe in god is to distrust humanity.Placing the focus of efficancy in an unseen and unproven being removes responsibility and accountability from the human potential. Seeing that god is born out of fear (few mention "God" outside of the context of crisis),are those who perpetuate faith truly afraid of their own capacities and responsibilities? ggrtrhhrtgg
God is only born out of fear in Christianity.
Esau
I guess if you mean "god" as in refering only to christianity.
Thorgnor
Bunk. God is morality. Religion is conformity. oh... wait a minute... I'm not in grade 12...?
