bradm
I was listening to a show by Stephen Franke & Noises From The Toolshed* just now, and the line, "Life Is Precious", is the main refrain in the song Floating in the Oxygen (said song also being part of the show I was listening to). Kinda neat, that synchronicity... Aloha, Brad * Who, it turns out, list a show in Ottawa on Saturday, August 20, at Mavericks.

Velvet
Meece are precious.VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Reuters) - Canada has decided it is time for an image change, so the long-standing images of "mountains, moose and Mounties" are out when it comes to wooing international tourists. The country's tourism promotion agency says "cliched" symbols it has used for years, such as the ceremonial red uniforms of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, create an image of Canada that is "outdated and incomplete.""The French are known for cuisine, the Swiss are known for precision, Italians for fine clothing. Is Canada always to be known for mountains, moose and Mounties?" Tourism Canada lamented in a press release. The agency said Canada will now promote an image that will encourage international visitors to explore the country's diversity, but gave no details on how it plans to do this."At the same time, quietly proud Canadians will be motivated to raise their voice and become Canadian ambassadors from coast to coast to coast and abroad," the agency said. The announcement was made on Wednesday at a tourism conference in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, a relatively flat city in the Prairies that is not known to have a moose herd but which does have an RCMP detachment.
