Biggest Fan
Stay in NYC. You'll find something that is not all together crazy (maybe). I was in NYC for a weekend and did not leave central park unless food was in order.
Jaimoe
You have to go to CBGB's before it closes, preferably to see a band... any band. Make sure you use the bathrooms. They are infamous for all the right and wrong reasons.Central Park is cool, but Greenich Villiage is the best.
bradm
You can fly into Newark, and take a shuttle bus (IIRC, US$12 each way) into Manhattan (either the Port Authority Bus Terminal, or Grand Central Station), after which it should be easy to walk/subway/cab to whatever lodging you get in the city.I took the Greyhound from Manhattan to Montreal one time in December, 2003 (I was to fly JetsGo from Newark to Toronto, but a snowstorm cancelled all the flights), and it wasn't fun: it tooks about nine hours, after which I still had to get from Montreal to Ottawa. If you can fly, fly.Aloha,Brad
Ms.Huxtable
I have a book that I can give you. We were planning on going for the Jammys this year but had to buy a new stove when our old one died. Ah the joys of appliance ownership.
rubberdinghy
Anyone know anything about Hostels.com...Thier rates seem to be drastically cheaper than specific hostel's websites.
Booche
Hey Dinghy, go see a Rangers game when you are there. They will probably be your favorite team in the NHL by that point.
Deeps
I went the Newark root. It's real easy to get in by train, but it may have beena hassle had I been looking to party and neede to get back real late.Hotels were exceptionally cheaper though.BOOK IN ADVANCE....I called the weekend b4 and had little options in the downtown core!Deeps

Velvet
Les Paul plays every Mionday at the Iridium and Paul Reed Smith plays every Tuesday at the Hard Rock Cafe.
