headymamamyrna
Just had to replace my washer but not for that reason. The transmission oil was leaking for a couple of years.Your problem sounds like the timer.I do think you will have to drain it by hand with a bucket or whatever. Alexis
as much as it pains me....i'm not a complete biznatch.the same thing happened to me in the summer. it was the timing belt. you can try to force the dial to the next part of the cycle, so it will drain. if the belt is broken then when you force it nothing will happen, or you won't be able to force it at all. depending on the age of your washer you can get it fixed. with mine, i could force it a couple times, then it broke for good.if you're not going to fix it, and replace it, you'll have to bail it as much as you can. Lazlo
It's more than likely your timing belt, don't force it to the next cycle because you'll fuck the transmission if it's not already. If you can get that thing that swishes around in your washer out you may be able to drain it depending on the make and model.

Alexis
i forced it cause my reef on it till it works theory always works...and cause the washer was 35+ years old and was sure i was getting a new one, which i did. so i didn't really care if i broke it more.for once in my life...i say...listen to lazlo. Freak By Night
The simplest explanation for a washer stopping in the middle of the cycle is that the clothes are unevenly distributed in the machine (all the heavy stuff on one side). Try moving them around by hand and see if that works. If not, you'll need a visit from a repair person.
Dr_Evil_Mouse
Our machine kacked out last year, and it turned out that the transmission oil had all leaked out and it was all metal-on-metal. Nasty, in a word. We ended up having to buy a new 2nd-hand washer. I hope your problem is simpler; look for puddles of black stuff underneath to eliminate (or confirm) this possibility.
