Stupid sports announcer clichés

I know you've all heard this one before...

On my way out to the Sens/LA game last night, tuned into the pre-game show on the radio. One of the announcers was saying how the 2nd and 3rd lines have to step up their game: "The Fishers, the Smolinskis, the Schaefers have to put more pucks in the net".

That's so stupid.

Now, if you were talking about the Canucks, you could say "The Sedins have to play better". That would be OK. Or, the Sharks: "The Thorntons played well last night".

i agree. the athletes are no better,

I don't have a list in front of me, but ex-CFL lineman and current CBC colour commentator Chris Walby makes innane comments on almost every play.
