Rossolee
Well another year has come and gone. Sarah and I were lucky enough to ring in the new year in S.F. 3 nights of SKB and one night of SCI S.F is a foodies paradise! We had some awesome meals. A few of our favorites: sashimi and hand-rolls at Ten-Ichi, Italian at Via Veneto, bagels at Noah’s Bagels, crab and shrimp down at the Wharf, kobe burgers at Harry's Bar, dinner at the Fillmore Grill. Not to mention wine and beer! We enjoyed Marimar Pinot Noir a lot!So much so after several bottles with different cheeses we were a little late for the SCI show! D’ohhh! Anyways- if you see it, buy it, its tastes delicious. We did the Anchor Steam Brewery tour! mmm free beer! The Liberty Ale on tap is gold! The Christmas Ale was damn good as well.Magnolia Brewery and Bar in the Haight had a great Wheat beer…Weather Report Wheat! They were boiling when we got the there, so the entire bar was steamed up and smelled like hops! www.marimarestate.com/ www.anchorbrewing.com/ www.magnoliapub.com/ As always we did a lot of walking and sight-seeing in S.F. Golden Gate Park, North Beach, Coit Tower, Fisherman’s Wharf, Fillmore in Pacific Heights, Haight Ashbury, China Town, and ofcourse the cable cars! The music was beyond expectations! This run for SKB blew me away. All the guys stepped up for the 3 shows we saw! The word EPIC was said a lot! Reed was totally animated on bass, Robert was playing loud swirling and funky… and well Steve and Rodney were both killer as always. Opening with It’s Up to You was a treat! Martin Fierro playing sax on a bunch of classic Zero material (STD, Merl’s Boogie, Baby Baby,Coles->Hangers, You’re the One). Rodney sang Tea in the Sahara, but more of a treat was the KVHW song In Time! Reed also got into singing with the cover of Marley’s Small Axe. Other standout covers were In Memory of Elizbeth Reed and Stella Blue. Ice Cream, Bad Hair, A New Africa raised the roof. On the funky side Robert Walter killed on Funky Miracle and Kickin’ Up Dust. The Balloon drop and Champagne toast in a such a classic venue for NYE was amazing! :)I think I’ll have to download this whole-run! Just to good to pass on. www.kimock.com/ www.musichallsf.com/ As well we did a dinner with the band on the 29th at a cool hotel (The Maxwell)The dinner was hosted by the band and ex-google chef Charlie Ayers. Wonderful food, people and an acoustic song with slide by Steve during dessert was pretty special! www.chefcharlieayers.com/ SCI brought the festival fun to the Concourse Exhibition Ctr. 3 stages- one main stage, one cabaret, and one DJ. Mixed media art, art installations, shakedown style vending, a Dream Tree, artists on stilts etc!!! SCI co-produced this event with the folks from Burning Man. Crazy stuff. Eye Candy!! The show was pretty good, but after being spoiled in such a small venue, the largeness of this event was a bit of a BK. Blue Bossa was a treat, Cross-Eyed and Painless-> Search was great. Rivertrance is always a favorite. Water was cool to hear. Sirens->Howard was a lot of phun as well. http://www.stringcheeseincident.com/ http://www.seaofdreamsnye.com/ All in all a great run of music and a phun vacation. It was great to meet up with Mike and Colleen for music and sight seeing! As well as some noon time Irish Bar drinking with their crazy friends from Colorado! Thanks folks! Cheers! Schwa.
Seldom posters, SweetMarie and Vixen were in SF for the SCI show too, they said they had the best time aside from the torrential downpours, kudos on a great west coast adventure!
