Dr_Evil_Mouse
Thanks for the prompt, Esau - I'm going to have to rewatch this some time soon, as it's been a while. Iirc, Deer Hunter is up there with Deliverance in the A-list of disturbing Americana movies. Inevitably good and a must-see, but one of those one that you come out on the other side of shaking your head going, What is it that has fucked us up so bad? And where do we get off feeling any sense of redemption for our lot, and even our whole species? To this day, I can't process the word "roulette" without thinking of this movie. Velvet
I read the book once - soooo intense. There were times when I literally threw the book out of my hands 'cuz my heart was beating so hard. Good movie too. I got it on DVD but haven't watched it yet.Though Rocky I is, of course, the greatest movie ever.
ggrtrhhrtgg
Deer Hunter is one of the select few movies I own, brilliant. I would though give the slight edge to "Apocolypse Now" my vote for greatest movie ever.

djmelbatoast
I can't take the introduction to this movie. It's so slow. After an hour an a half of home video of a wedding and then the hunting seen, which combines all of the fun and excitment of sitting quietly and trying to be silent, I'm ready to take my turn with the pistol.
