  7. now THAT was a weekend!! as always...a shout-out to Sean for the awesome gig. My personal highlights: ~~chats and hugs from most of Arrested Development. ~~Everything Hoots and Hellmouth. (the CD I bought has been on rotation ALL day...and I just giddily discovered they are on the archive!!) ~~learning contra dancing on Saturday morning (I do believe I will join/participate in the local contra-dance group when they meet twice per month in the west-end) ~~ washing/drying dishes in the Enviro-tent with the drummer from Hidden Cameras and then ending up on stage with them banging on the tambourine! ~~listening to an animated Adambrot describe a mind-exploding experience in Peru at the close of Saturday night ~~ finishing a stellar, stellar day with the Jerry tribute at the Carleton!! thanks to all who fed my soul this past weekend with your smiles, your conversations, your laughter, your music, and your love!!! I'm already ready for Folk Fest 2011 !!
  8. I know J...I thought the same thing! "How totally wrong, but terribly logical in a warped way!" There's a science-centre museum right at the Old Port, Heather. And simply walking through the fairly huge Chinatown was always interesting for us as a family, as was simply walking along St. Catherine. There are SO many outdoor fest happening in Mtl all summer, so hopefully you'll just catch something fun by happenstance! BTW: did all you folks know that all Science Centres in North America give complimentary admission to people who have their own local museum memberships? So what this means is that for a $75/year family membership to the Ottawa Science and Tech museum, all 4 family members will get in for free to all Science Centres in Can and the US. Pretty cool!!!
  9. check out "da boss" (scroll to the bottom of the page) http://www.ottawafolk.org/volunteer/?profiles ...he's one cool cucumber to work for! hope to see lots of you there!!!
  10. once more a request for a working link... please and thank-you!
  11. ahahahahaha!! Schwa and ReDD...I heart you both....you speak truth. Punk, little Miss Lucy Maud looks soooo sweet. What a fabulous name. Ima happy for you, but envious, too.
  12. I'm so sorry to have missed so many peeps that made a special trip to O-Town for this show... but I somehow (and absolutely unforseen -- thank you Sean Taylor!!), ended up directly front and centre, and had the time of my life. 20+ years of seeing this band and never dreamed of being close enough to so enjoy Phil's beatific smile!!! I missed Jerry so much, but he was definitely "channeled" ... Wharf Rat was an incredible moving moment for me....felt like I had time travelled, indeed!
  13. Brad, it was a pleasure (as it always is) to run into you before the show. My immense thanks for this recording and the many, many others you have made available to all of us over the years. I can't wait to begin streaming this: it was a super-special night for me, as after 20 years of seeing the Grateful Dead (and then its many permutations) from mostly "lawns seats" and "nose bleed" sections, I found myself, literally FRONT and CENTRE!!! **I still miss Jerry so much**
  14. hey y'all... I'm pretty sure the answer I seek is buried somewhere in this thread, but I couldn't find it. If someone can answer, it, THANKS in advance: how/when/where can students get those $20 day tickets?
  15. Happy Birthday AD! Sharon makes the 30s sound a little grim...but really, it's all about the fibre intake. Apart from that, nothing should change too much. well, actually.... while an increase in morning Bran Flakes will help you adjust to your "mid-years", a good colon enema is pretty essential. No fear, though....I hear Booche has already started a list of "me-first" to offer this service! [color:blue]HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
  16. we got a bit of news from LS at the last Jamland and so I'm glad to hear the wait is finally over...that the creature finally popped from 'beached whale' mama!!! What a lovely name for the "creature", I mean, "adorable bundle of joy". May she give you 5 hours of sleep...this week!! all kidding aside, I am SOOOOO happy for you two. Hope all is well in all aspects of your new life!!! miss you guys lots, you should know!

  18. happy, happy BD, Heather! I know you enjoyed yourself this weekend, but we sure did miss ya at Blue Skies!
  19. oh yeah... all provincial parks have some first-come, first served sites that cannot be reserved in advance, so as long as you arrive early enough, you should be okay to just drive in off the road, as it were.
  20. without a doubt: Murphy's Point Provincial Park. ~neat hikes (including an abandoned mica mine) ~a decent (though small-ish) beach ~tent sites are all very tree'd and private ~excellent canoeing with lots of turtles, snakes, etc
  21. 16 year mortgage reduced to 4.5 years = fun!
  22. you are all clever, clever buggers! I mourn the long-gone days of booze-smuggling ease with the strollers. Now I just brazen my way in past the youngest kid working a gate. (A bag of nacho chips & a couple of dips on top of wrapped cans has always worked, too) btw, I have always thought Bluesfest was very cool on this score: there are MANY venues that will not allow off-site food to be brought in.
