\/\/illy
I'm pretty sure I saw him in the early 90's at the El Macombo. Fantastic show! Highly recommended if you enjoy a good time and dancing. (and music of course) Love and peace!!
c-towns
If you could compare this/these guys to another band who would it be?
Mr. Musicface
Wow, I saw these guys maybe 15 years ago down at Harbourfront - it might have been for WOMAD. Good times! c-towns, I'd say they're a pretty straight ahead New Orleans-style party band, lots of accordion and good times. "Zydeco" actually refers to the type of music they play, you can find other traditional zydeco bands anywhere you look in Louisiana, and at folk, blues and jazz fests everywhere. Closest comparison... hmmm, maybe somebody like Dr. John but less funky and more straight-ahead grooves. There's some samples on the website, that's your best bet: http://www.buckwheatzydeco.com/bwzydecomusic/bwzydecomusic.html Peace, Mr. M.
Large Marge
I remember seeing good ol' Buckwheat when I was living in Banff in 94'?!? My friend Miller was going on and on about how awesome they were and insisted on buying me their disk. You should have seen the look on his face when they rang it up at $23!!! Worth every penny, as far as I'm concerned... I still throw it on when I'm getting pumped to do housework, or if I feel my roommates need a swiftkickintheass. Definitely worth seeing in your lifetime; PEACE!
MarcO
Emma's back Porch?!?!?
\/\/illy
What's that MarcO? You saw them at Emma's back porch? The closet thing that I could compare it to is "Nathan & The Zydeco Cha-Cha's" but I doubt that's going to help much. LOL

Large Marge
quote: Originally posted by MarcO: Emma's back Porch?!?!? Ah yes, many a memory (and lack o' memory) from the Back Porch... I think however that this particular show was held (most appropriately) at Wild Bill's. Yee-haw!
\/\/illy
Oh, I see. I'm an idiot. You were referring to where they are playing. Wow. That is weird. That'll be sweet. I'd love to sit on Emma's back porch looking over the water, sipping beer, and grooving to some Zydeco music!
