Apparently Sheldon Souray is done for the season because of the reoccurring shoulder problems.

I think we are lucky that Sheldon chose not to return with the Habs this year.

Thank God we're now five points away from the Sens. We can get over the hysteria of gunning for first place (3 losses in 4 games since said hysteria began) and get back to focusing on making the playoffs.

Ryan O'Byrne was called right back up to the Habs after last night's game. I didn't watch it. How bad was it?

Found while scouring the webs this morning. Read it. Don't read it. Whatever. Feel free to barrage me with insults for providing informative posts:

1- UFA Mark Streit to make "millions".

2- Who the hell is Brock Trotter?

3- The Habs traded Francis Lemieux. Nobody cared. Here's an analysis of the trade from Habsworld.net:

"On Thursday, the Habs picked up veteran farmhand Brett Engelhardt from Grand Rapids in exchange for the frequently scratched Francis Lemieux. Essentially, it came down to this from the Habs' point of view: Lemieux couldn't buy a goal to save his life, and the signing of Blake Trotter only created a bigger logjam up the middle. The team needed toughness, particularly with Andrew Archer out of the lineup, Engelhardt brings that element. Finally, the team had a veteran spot available with the release of Joel Bouchard a few weeks back, while Grand Rapids needed to clear one for Darren McCarty. There it is in a nutshell, and from what I've read in terms of trade breakdowns, this may be one of the most detailed out there."

Another small detail is that they traded an RFA for a UFA increasing the number of UFAs for Gainey to deal with at the end of the season to 9.

Trouble brewing...

The Tampa Tribune is reporting that Montreal Canadiens defensemen Ryan O'Bryne and forward Thomas Kostopoulos were arrested outside of Tampa nightclub early Monday morning.

O'Byrne is accused of stealing a women's purse, while Kostopoulos is accused of resisting an officer.

The incident began when a woman notified the bar's security officers that her purse was missing. The security officers noticed O'Bryne holding the purse and the women's cellphone outside the bar.

According to the report, O'Bryne told the officers that the purse belonged to his girlfriend, but police determined it belonged to the woman.

"Several associates, who were identified as National Hockey League players/members, crowded around the officers and police car," the police report states. "They were told numerous times to get away from the police car and not to interfere."

O'Bryne was charged with grand theft and Kostopoulos was charged with resisting the officers.

O'Byrne's bail was set at $2,000 and Kostopolous' was set at $500 - both have been released.

The Canadiens are scheduled to play the Tampa Bay Lightning Tuesday night.
