the dude
Following on the foot steps of their top20 campus record 'Second Ring', Moses Mayes takes their explosive mix of funk fusion and house on the road for their 'Second Ring' National tour which touches down on many of Canada's Jazz Festivals and clubs. Shows with Herbie Hancock, Wassabi Collective, Novillero, the Hummers, Andrew Spence and Vancouver's hippest underground venue the Doll House are all included in the tour. Moses’ new record Second Ring, produced by Jamie Shields (the New Deal), was released on Nov 7, 2007 to critical acclaim here in Canada and the UK. Make sure to check the record that "...shows that while the godfather of the genre may be gone, his legacy is alive and well. Fusing funk, disco, acid jazz and old-school hip-hop, Moses Mayes steps up and takes funk in a fun, contemporary direction." - Halifax Chronicle HeraldYou can buy Second Ring at iTunes, Napster and Emusic or visit www.mosesmayes.com and hit the link the Moses Mayes Store! StoneMtn
I recommend adding these to the Western Canada calendar as well, but I have no time to do it myself. The band would be smart to do so, though.

the dude
Sorry about no Nanaimo this tour - the Jazz Festival's had originally gave our agency a great routing then they complete abandoned it so we we didn't end up with a great routing this summer and had to cut short on many dates across Canada.Don't worry! Our agency is already booking a fall national club tour to make up for such a short Summer tour. We'll also be unveiling a brand new set for the fall tour that you won't want to miss! Not saying this summer's set isn't great either ;-)As for June 23! Hell yeah...we peed our pants when we heard the news. Herbie is the reason we started this band and continue making modern funk fusion. And if your a fan of ours you know we've played countless covers of his over the years. Thanks for all your comments and enthusiasm all, we really look forward to playing as we did not do a national spring tour this year due to our commitments producing a record for Maiko Watson (great R&B from this lady, watch for that release!). Again, we'll be doing an extended club tour this fall and playing many dates on our favorite Canadian Island :-)On another note, sadly we won't be back at Evolve as they never asked us back :-( Protest this!!! ;-)- RPG of Moses Mayes

StoneMtn
Dude, I see that you posted a comment in the Western Canada calendar area, but are you aware that you did not post the actual dates of the shows in the calendar, itself? It will take some time to do, as you have to input each date individually, but I think it will be worthwhile for you to do it.(Just trying to help.)~sm.
