Nice pics Blane...thanks for the trip down memory lane as I worked in the Caribbean and had one of the best vacations of my life in Treasure Beach, Jamaica...

What took you "down island" work-wise?

I went from Montego Bay to Falmouth, down to Magotty, down to Treasure Beach, stop in Black River, then up the coast to Negril and back home. Did almost all of it in route taxis and minibuses, so it was a real interesting experience.

I was at a 2-day workshop in Antigua for my UN work, and then took advantage of being down there to have a bit of a vacation.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but was it you that was doing work in SOuth Africa previously? If so, I'd like to PM you to ask you some questions as I may be doing my doctoral research down there, and am expecting a baby, and wondering what it would be like to do field work over there if I brought a young toddler along with me.

yeah, thanks heather. I was in Senegal. If you're thinking about doign fieldwork with a baby in South Africa, I think it'll depend a lot on where and in what context. If you're working in a city like Cape Town, I don't imagine there'd be a problem, but out in the remote areas it might not be well suited.
