Velvet
Hey all, Got some questions. I'm thinking of hitting up Ringo Starr for one of these shows (from Poolstar): 6/19/08 or 6/20/08. Any idea when tickets usually go on sale for the casino, what's the cheapest place to stay in town, and how the hell do I get free tickets? I signed up for the club thing that Basher suggested last summer, but in the occasional spam I get from them there is never a mention of free tix. Basher
Hey Todd. I think Fallsview is a litte more strict with the free tickets. I get a flyer each month that says I can have two free tickets to pretty much any show, but the tickets have to be picked up by me at will call. I can see if I can grab some free tickets with they go on sale and pick them up if I head there sometime before the show.As for cheap places to stay, it depends on the time of year. Priceline is always a good option, but in the summer it can be difficult to get a good deal.
Big Wooly Mammoth
and note that shows there are pretty short, as is usually the case with casino shows.
Basher
It's a kickass venue though. Sound is awesome, and it is so intimate. Not a bad seat in the place.
LXQ42
Hey, I might be able to help. Get yourself a players card....most of the tix for The Avalon are comped....you can buy some tix but the prices vary show to show. Time wise the contracts for bands say they have to play a min. 75 minutes and a max. 120 minutes. They want people back on the casino floor as soon as possible. The cheapest hotel that most of our out of town crew guys stay at is the Ritz...not a bad joint and pretty close to the venue. Summer rates are going to be higher, but comparitavely still probably cheaper.Cheers, hope to see a lot of skanks at this show, I'll have the best seat in the house, with a followspot on the band! Velvet
I think I registered for a players card but to no avail. I wanna go to the Friday show but I'm sitting on the fence. Comp tickets would push me over.I wanna play some poker!!!
Basher
Todd, call the casino and tell them you want to see if you can get comp tickets to the show. They'll look you up to see if you have a card and let you know.
MoMack
For hotels Travelzoo sometimes has good deals along the lines of $125/night with a $50 food voucher for some restaurant and some other throw ins... Also, I've stayed at the Oakes Hotel on the rack rate and its right by the casino, great view, and not a chain so the prices are a little better.... Velvet
Will do Basher, thanks. Will they expect me to stay at their hotel? Also, I suppose it would be prudent to wait until they've announced the show and/or have tickets on sale? Velvet
Booourns!Ticketbastard says no tix are available. I called the casino and yes, I have a card, but it turns out I haven't picked it up yet so there is zero play on the card. They only issue comps to people with play on the cards. Now what?!?!? Northern Wish
Fallsview is super tight for freebies. I have a good friend who works there bringing in the big whales to lose all of their money. He doesn't even get access to freebies..........It looked pretty good under the lights on the WPT this past weekend though. Go Soren!!!

I have a friend that gambles a lot of money at the Fallsview Casino and that person is usually able to get me free tickets to nearly every show at the Avalon Ballroom Theatre.Unfortunately for Ringo Starr opening his 2008 All-Star Band Tour, there were no free/comp tickets for even Platinum Card Holders at the Fallsview Casino. The Onsale to the General Public was this past Friday March 14 at 12PM EDT. I went on right at noon and was lucky enough to get a pair of tickets for the opening night of the tour. The venue only seats 1008 people so I believe both shows for Ringo Starr sold out in a matter of minutes.Since you will not get any tickets from the casino being a card holder, I would just daily go back and try for tickets on ticketmaster.ca and hopefully something will come up. As Ringo would say,Peace and Love,Tim
Velvet
Thanks for the info all. If anyone finds a pair for night #2 lemme know. Until then I'll keep checking with the 'bastard.
