secondtube
shut the crapper down. if the owners, after what happened, are still willing to have folks in their 20s arrested inside the club for selling ketamine, marijuana, GHB and ecstacy, they deserve to be shut down. Jaimoe
I love the Silver Dollar, but they can shut the Zone and The Waverly Hotel down for all I care. The area would clean-up considerably.
Basher
I dunno, I have a feeling this coming Sunday at the CZ will be different. Roll call?

Jaimoe
I'll try to put our names on the guest list, just to be smart.
Hal Johnson
We should look into getting a room at the Waverly as well (for the after party).
Jaimoe
Maybe that's better for just you and Basher.
Hal Johnson
If they're still offering rooms for just 15 minutes...
Jaimoe
I can't get The Slip song "Even Rats" out of my head just thinking about that whole block of buildings.

Hal Johnson
It really is a shame about that place though. Wednesday nights were great - everyone that frequented the place back in the day seems to agree. There was no cover and the crowd was always wicked and the bands were, arguablly, always amazing too. Its too bad the cozone will be remembered for this. And the Silver Dollar room too - such a blemish on its reputation.
djmelbatoast
Some of my favorite memories, or lack there of, happened in that hole. It's too bad it had to go all sketchy.
Jaimoe
The Silver Dollar is still a good place to see a show. It wasn't busted, but certainly it's guilt by association. I will continue to go to the Silver Dollar, maybe even this Wednesday for Crazy Strings.
Sarahbelle
I remember meeting Hal and djMelba there.. man I miss that time a lot... lol I dont' think I could handle goign out every wednesday anymore though. I heard it again on the news this morning.. it is kind of a shame but I am not going to deny the scetchy nature of those sunday raves.
NewRider
I'm beginning to think I should take the Zone off my resume!
Jaimoe
I'm beginning to think I should take the Zone off my resume! I'm pretty sure Jazz Is Dead, Ravi Coltrane and Derek Trucks should be doing the same.
c-towns
Ahhh, Jazz is Dead, I knew I had been in there before.
Jaimoe
Great show, that Jazz Is Dead gig. I remember talking to Jimmy Herring before the show and asked him what he thought of the Zone: He rolled his eyes.
c-towns
haha, I remember the poor turn out.
Jaimoe
haha, I remember the poor turn out.The turnout was ok at the show I was at. I went to the first Jazz Is Dead show in Toronto. Jimmy's eye-rolling was his response to playing in that disgusting dive.
CyberHippie
The first jazz is dead show was sick! One of my favourite zone memories, was being outside after the Blue Floyd show and the Betts kid asked me where he could get some opium. "it IS chinatown isn't it??!!" LOLAnother classic memory, sitting on the silver dollar patio on one of those legendary wednesday nights. My friend was trying to pack his one hitter and wished for a paper so he could roll. He puts his hand out palm up and I literally watched a rolling paper float down from the sky and land in his hand. No jokes! If ever there was a sign to roll!
