meggo
my favourite baby shower gift is robeez shoes. i realize this is not related to their interests, but they are the cutest little shoes, they are [or at least were] canadian made, and there is tons of variety. you can buy them at mrs tiggywinkles. i recently bought my friend's baby girl the ones with the flaming guitar on them. so cute!http://www.robeez.com/Department.aspx?DeptID=223&PriceCat=1&Lang=EN-US

slavetothegroove
As a new mom, I definitely recommend a carrier/sling of some sort. There are so many different kinds out there that are useful for all sorts of occasions. They're fairly expensive ($50-$100+) so it's often hard fork out the money on one let alone a couple, but they're sooo great! Especially when their wee little and not too heavy yet. I know I would have loved to gotten a few more at my shower..haha. Good luckSteph
StoneMtn
Every baby needs a jolly jumper.Otherwise, every new Mom needs a "Baby Bjorn" (a reverse backpack papoose-thing for carrying baby). Both invaluable!
