Costa Rica Advice

Time to start planning next year's winter vacation. Anybody have any good suggestions on places to stay and see in Costa Rica?

It doesn't matter where you go, Costa Rica is Awesome.

I mostly stayed in a small town called Samara. Gentlemonkey suggested it to us. It's on the Pacific. I didn't want to deal with San Jose so we flew into Libiria.

I will post some pics later today when I have a sec.

I was mostly in St. Theresa - best surf - not americanized - pretty cheap and scenic area.

manuel antonio/quepos has a really nice beach and national park. a little more touristey than some other spots i think.

i recommend the osa peninsula. tougher to get to but so well worth it.

there was a costa rica thread awhile back...try to find that, lotsa stuff in there.

i stayed a week at Costa Verde (name of resort/hotel), a short walk to Manuel Antonio, and a short cab to Quepos... definitely a nice spot.

Stay away from Jaco Beach. Very overcrowded and has been having recent crime waves.

I stayed in Tamarindo 1year ago and it was great. Nice little town.

I stayed in Tamarindo 1year ago and it was great. Nice little town.

I heard the local now call it TamaGringo... people are building big houses all over that part.

When are you going? Will it be the rainy season?
