Booche
Gord Wilson was on the Team this morning and predicted the Sens would make the playoffs but he premised it by saying they would need to "score goals, stay injury-free and play 60 minutes of hockey every game."Cliche'd to the max. It doesnt get any worse than that phanners.
Freak By Night
He didn't mention anything about having to win 30 or so games out of the remaining 38?A team can "score goals, stay injury-free and play 60 minutes of hockey every game", and still lose every game! You're right Booche - cliche'd!
Booche
Steve Warne "crunched" some numbers, intimating the Sens would have to get to 94pts in order to have a hope. That means they would have to go 27-10-1 the rest of the way.Stuntman Stu got uber-excited thinking they would do it. It was really bad radio. MrBigTime
I think the goaltending problem alone would be too much to accomplish this needed 2nd half record... but I definately wanna see them try (finishing in 9th to 11th that is ) Gerber's bags are pretty much packed... looking to be Calgary for the destination... blockbuster trade for a 3rd to 4th rounder... Don't know why Calgary wouldn't have just snagged him off re-entry waivers for 1/2 price...

rubberdinghy
Ray Emery is up to his old tricks. The former Senators goalie was the talk of the hockey world again yesterday after a video was posted on YouTube of Emery pushing and swatting who appears to be an Atlant Mystichi trainer during a KHL game.A KHL source said the incident happened last night when Emery was pulled after allowing three goals in the first period against Yaroslavl. Emery, 26, a Hamilton native, has been one of the top goalies in the KHL.Emery's agent, J.P. Barry, told TSN last night that the goalie didn't like being pestered by a staff member to wear a sponsor's hat.Emery recently suited up in a KHL all-star game in Red Square in Moscow. Emery, bought out by the Senators last summer after a host of off-ice incidents, has a 20-6-0 record in 31 games.

MrBigTime
'Anybody that says we should blow up this organization should get their own bomb and go blow themselves up,' says frustrated Sens owner. In other words "We want to stay in the Tavares sweepstakes as long as we can!"Waiting until they have been mathematically eliminated before thinking of making any moves is going to make this a long season for the Sens... I'd say the odds on the Sens making the playoffs is less than 5%... 27-10-1?? (with 1 loss already)

Tissue Man
from TSN.. maybe the problems in the dressing room didn't come from the players?? Blue Jackets' Commodore Rips Murray Columbus Blue Jackets' defenceman Mike Commodore's list of enemies appears to be growing. Two days after he publicly ripped Red Wings' coach Mike Babcock, Commodore turned his attention to current Ottawa Senators' general manager Bryan Murray who brought him to Ottawa and briefly coached the blueliner last season. In an interview with the Columbus Dispatch on Friday, the 29-year old Commodore sounded off on his brief tenure with the Senators."Bryan Murray said some things to the media that he shouldn't have," Commodore told the Dispatch. "I'd have a meeting with him and he'd end up saying things to the media that he wouldn't say to my face."I'm struggling, the team's struggling, and Bryan's telling the media that I'm a player with no hands and no ability. Then they'd come to me and I'd have to spin it somehow, or try to laugh it off."The Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta native was acquired from the Carolina Hurricanes by the Sens prior to the trade deadline last season, along with Cory Stillman for defenceman Joe Corvo and forward Patrick Eaves. The move was supposed to propel the Senators back into the Stanley Cup final, however Commodore struggled immensely in the Nation's capital, finishing with just two assists and a minus-9 rating in 25 games."I didn't play well. I was not a good player," Commodore said. "But when I go around the room and ask the other defensemen how we play in our own zone, and I get six different answers how am I supposed to fit in?"I was excited when I first got there. I thought we were going to the (Stanley) Cup Finals. What they were trying to do, I had accomplished. And then they brought me in there during my unrestricted year and demoted me? That's more than a little tough to take."Commodore is enjoying a career season in Columbus after signing a much scrutinized five-year, $18.75 million contract with the Jackets in the off-season. He has four goals and 17 assists while posting a plus-13 rating in 48 games while the Jackets battle for a playoff spot in the tight Western Conference. He originally had hoped to return to the Senators and expressed his desires to Murray in a closed door meeting."I was not a happy camper," Commodore told the Dispatch. "I aired it out. It was a great meeting. Things were better on a personal level. He asked if I wanted to come back and I said, 'Yes.' I told him I didn't want to slam that door."I said, 'Hire a coach and give me a call.' Well, I never got the call. And then I read in the newspapers that I think I'm worth more than I really am."Commodore will have the opportunity to show Murray what he missed out on as the Blue Jackets will host the Senators tonight.
