Davey Boy 2.0 Posted October 24, 2008 Report Share Posted October 24, 2008 Chili Con Acorn4 cups acorns, rehydrated1 lg onion, chopped2 cloves garlic, minced1 Tbsp chili powder½ tsp salt1 tsp ground cumin1 tsp oregano½ tsp Tabasco sauce1 can (16oz) chopped tomatoes1 can (16 oz) kidney beans 1. Saute acorns with onion and garlic in a heavy-bottomed pot.2. Stir in remaining ingredients.3. Heat to boiling, reduce heat and simmer for at least an hour. bouche Posted October 24, 2008 Report Share Posted October 24, 2008 Acorn bread1 cup acorn flour1 cup white flour2 tsp baking powder¾ tsp baking soda1 tsp salt2 large eggs½ cup or honey¼ cup oil or butter1 cup milk (buttermilk is best!)1. Mix dry ingredients together.2. Add all the rest of the ingredients and blend until smooth.3. Pour batter into a 9x9 baking pan, or 10-inch cast iron frying pan4. Bake at 375 for 25 minutes.5.
