c-towns
Can anyone recommend some interesting sites to see in the Bay area?Excluding the obvious (Haight Ashbury, golden gate bridge, fisherman’s wharf, Chinatown, Alcatraz)

Basher
If you drive over the Golden Gate bridge, instead of going to the "viewing area" head up the hills, off the last exit before you hit the GG bridge on the way back towards SF. Awesome views and some cool old army installations.

YearsAlongTheSea
If you're mobile and want to see some good beaches head to Stinson Beach or Bodega Bay...Otherwise there's a mountain or vista kind of in downtown that's a nice perspective on the town. (maybe get a topological map)
ersh
I ate at a KILLER sushi place at the corner of sacramento and polk called Sushi Rock. Ate there twice in two days.... While I'm sure there's boatloads of good sushi, this one comes recommended.http://www.sushirocksf.com/
