Kanada Kev
Official Olympictards have told Ryan Miller that his newly designed mask is no good for the Olympics. Safety you say?? nooooo ... the fact that some may confuse the goalie's last name and his use of the term "miller time" that may irk some sponsors? pfft. come on now http://wintergames.ap.org/story.aspx?st=id&id=c2e933e807e24269ab814ba35397b795 VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — One way or another, it's going to be Miller Time at the Vancouver Olympics for the U.S. men's hockey team.Starting goalie Ryan Miller said Monday he's been told the mask he designed for the Winter Games doesn't conform to Olympic standards. The tag line "Miller Time" is printed on the mask, and a beer maker's slogan is deemed unacceptable. Miller shrugs that one off but he is more upset that officials are also taking issue with the words "Matt Man" as part of the design. That's a tribute to Miller's cousin, Matt Schoals, who died of cancer in 2007. Miller intends to contest the ruling, as the U.S. prepares to open against Switzerland on Tuesday. ollie
Canadian women's hockey team are on pace to beat Sweden by a greater than 18-0 margin -- it's 10-0 with over half the 2nd period to go. So much for them closing the gap in terms of competitiveness. Brutal.

Esau.
By Associated Press Archive Scotty Lago receives his Bronze Medal for Snowboard Halfpipe Thursday night. Wherever there is fame or celebrity, there is bound to be paparazzi. Newly-bronzed Olympic Halfpipe medalist Scotty Lago found this out the hard way Thursday night in Vancouver. While out celebrating on the town, Lago was captured in a somewhat compromising position with his Bronze Medal. Lago has volunteered to leave the Olympics after the pictures of him showed up on the Internet earlier today. Lago, who was awarded his bronze medal Thursday night, was at a party, wearing a Team USA T-shirt when somebody snapped a photo of a woman kneeling below Lago's waist to kiss his medal. That picture, and another showing him sticking the medal in the woman's mouth while teammate Greg Bretz looks on, appeared Friday on the TMZ Web site. Lago apologized to officials at the U.S. Olympic Committee and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association and decided to go home. In the aftermath of several out-of-competition incidents in Turin, one of which resulted in the dismissal of freestyle skier Jeret Peterson, the USOC has made extra efforts to emphasize athletes be on their best behavior when they're at the Olympics. Before the Beijing Games, the USOC began its "Ambassador Program" that athletes are made to complete before they travel to the games. Lago was a member of a group of snowboarders called the "Frends," that included Kevin Pearce and Danny Davis, both of whom were badly injured before the Olympics and couldn't make the trip. "I put all that aside and rode," Lago said. He said he put together one of the best runs of his life to win the surprise bronze on a night overshadowed by Shaun White and his gold-medal performance. http://espn.go.com/action/snowboarding/news/story?id=4929399

badams
I can't believe how many Canadian athletes are not performing up to what was expected of them. I didn't really think they would win 30 medals like the COC predicted but it is getting embarrassing.Unlike the good ole USA of course. They are producing medals out of their ass.Oh well, lets hope the Hockey boys can do us proud.
badams
Canadian athletes are now saying that the Own the Podium idea has actually hurt their chances. In the past they were able to train with athletes from other nations. Once the program started the foreign athletes were prohibited from training at Canadian facilities. Oh well...BIG game today!!Canada 4 USA
