Velvet
My current doctor makes a living sitting across the room saying, "it's probably nothing," and though he may be right sometimes I'd like a doctor that says things like, "let's check to make sure it's nothing."So, looking for a doctor recommendation, ideally in the downtown area. Ms.Huxtable
We use Dr. Duong. He's fantastic and doesn't hesitate to perscribe stuff and send us for more tests. Usually we can get a same or next day appointment as well.I am sure he accepts new patients. 829 Somerset Street WestOttawa, ON K1R 6R4(613) 594-3392

canscifan
I haven't been to see her yet, but Dr. Campbell has started a new practice at the Meadowlands health centre and is accepting patients. I've been trying to find a family doctor since I moved here 6 months ago, never thought to try this board
phishtaper
Velvet, a few years ago you may have signed a "family health group" agreement with your doctor. Most practices across the province were re-organized and many patients (explicitly or implicitly) entered into such an agreement. It would have allowed you to see any other physician in the practice as well as attend an after-hours clinic open only to patients of your own and perhaps one or two other affiliated practices. In exchange, you would have agreed a) not to go to any first-come, first-served walk-in clinics, and not to book appointment with a non-specialist physician outside of your own "group" of doctors. The process was specifically deigned to discourage people from shopping around when looking for a physician and to provide greater access should your own physician be away or you needed after-hours, non-urgent care. Yours would appear to be a valid reason, but other physicians outside of your own group may not wish to take you on as a patient if you signed such an agreement. You should look into this.
