Booche
I thought by now the captain was supposed to be either Chris Higgins or Mike Komisarek.

Booche
Hey Roller - Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin on rumors he’s spoken with UFA goalie Martin Brodeur “I already have three goalies. I can’t have four”…
Guest Low Roller
Thank God for that. I hope that someday current #4 depth goalie Mike Condon makes it to the Habs just so I can hear the RDS announcers say something like "Condon qui protège le but". Guest Low Roller
Time to learn some new numbers for the start of the season. Beaulieu changed his number to 28 for this season. Random facts from the Habs history website on these numbers: There has been a real drought of talent at #15 since Bobby Smith (1983-1990) regularly pulled 80+ point seasons. Only one players had a 40 point season since then: Darius Zubrus (1999-2000). So Parenteau is in a good position to leave his mark on the jersey. Bobby Rousseau (1960-1970) has a comfortable lead as the best player to wear the number. Wearing #20 pretty much curses Malhotra to only play a single season in Montréal. 8 different players have worn this jersey since Richard Zednik left at the end of the 2005-2006 season, none of whom played more than one season with the Habs: Mike Johnson (2006-2007), Bryan Smolinski (2007-2008), Robert Lang (2008-2009), Jay Leach (2009), Ryan O'Byrne (2009-2010)*, James Wisniewski (2010-2011), Colby Armstrong (2012-2013), Thomas Vanek (2014). Peter Mahovlich (1969-1978) will easily remain the most successful player to wear this number at this rate. The last #28 was Joonas Nattinen (2014). In his only game with the Habs he played a brisk 1:45, and was immediately sent back down to Hamilton. He's playing this year in the Swedish Hockey League after three unimpressive seasons in Hamilton, risking to be the answer to an infamous trivia question in a few years time. Pierre Larouche (1977-1982) remains the most successful player to wear the number for the Habs. The only other player to wear #77 for the Habs was Pierre Turgeon (1994-1997). Guest Low Roller
The Frankie Cube era comes to an end in Montreal (for a third time) with Bouillon being released from his tryout. Looks like Beaulieu and Tinordi both get regular spots on the team defence this year. That's a lot of veteran leadership lost for this season: Gionta, Gorges, Budaj, Bouillon, and Briere. Sekac, De La Rose, and Bournival all still with the team. Moen is dangerously close to losing his spot on the team as he's been practising on the 5th line with the spares pretty much all camp. But who the hell will take that contract of his if they try to trade him?

Booche
I do think that the Habs have got a better team on the ice with Emelin going back to his natural side, and Tom Gilbert picking up Gorges' minutes and shot blocking. How's that working out so far?
