Not talkin 'bout a year

No not three or four

I don't want that kind of forever

In my life anymore

Forever always seems

to be around when it begins

but for ever never seems

to be around when it ends

So give me your forever

Please your forever

Not a day less will do from you

People spend so much time

Every single day

Runnin' 'round all over town

Givin' their forever away

But no not me

I won't let my forever roam

and now I hope I can find

my forever home

So give me your forever

Please your forever

Not a day less will do from you

Like a handless clock of numbers

An infinite of time

No not the forever found

Only in the mind

Forever always seems

to be around when things begin

but forever never seems

to be around when things end

So give your forever

Please yoyr forever

Not a day less will do

From you

First with your hands, then with your mouth

A downpour of sweat, damp cotton clouds

I was a fool, you were my friend

We made it happen

You took off your clothes, left on the light

You stood there so brave, you used to be shy

Each feature improved, each movement refined

And eyes like a showroom

Now they are spreading out the blankets on the beach

That weatherman is a liar, he said it would be raining

But it is clear and blue as far as I can see

Left by the lamp, right next to the bed

On a cartoon cat pad you scratched with a pen

"Everything is as it has always been

This never happened"

"Don't take it so bad, it is nothing you did

It is just once something dies, you can't make it live

You're a beautiful boy, you're a sweet little kid

But I am a woman"

So I laid back down and wrapped myself up in the sheet

And I must have looked like a ghost, because something frightened me

And since then I've been so good at vanishing

Now I do as I please, and I lie through my teeth

Someone might get hurt, but it won't be me

I should probably feel cheap, but I just feel free

And a little bit empty

No it isn't so hard to get close to me

There will be no arguments, we will always agree

And I will try to be kind when I ask you to leave

We will both take it easy

But if you stay too long inside my memory

I will trap you in a song tied to a melody

And I will keep you there so you can't bother me

Living on the road my friend, is gonna keep you free and clean.

Now you wear your skin like iron, and your breath is hard as kerosene.

You weren't your mama's only boy, but her favourite one it seems.

She began to cry when you said goodbye, and sank into your dreams.

Pancho was a bandit boy, his horse was fast as polished steel.

He wore his gun outside his pants, for all the honest world to feel.

Pancho met his match, you know, on the deserts down in Mexico.

Nobody heard his dying words; ah, but that's the way it goes.

All the Federales say,

They could have had him any day.

They only let him slip away,

Out of kindness, I suppose.

Lefty, he can't sing the blues all night long like he used to.

The dust that Pancho bit down south ended up in Lefty's mouth.

The day they laid poor Pancho low, Lefty split for Ohio.

Where he got the bread to go, there ain't nobody knows.

All the Federales say,

They could have had him any day.

They only let him slip away,

Out of kindness, I suppose.

The poets tell how Pancho fell, and Lefty's living in cheap hotels.

The desert's quiet, Cleveland's cold, and so the story ends we're told.

Pancho needs your prayers it's true, but save a few for Lefty too.

He only did what he had to do, and now he's growing old.

(All the Federales say,

They could have had him any day.)

They only go so long,

Out of kindness, I suppose.

A few grey Federales say

They could have had him any day.

They only let him go so long,

Out of kindness, I suppose.

Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight

gonna grab some afternoon delight.

My motto's always been; when it's right, it's right.

Why wait until the middle of a cold dark night.

When everything's a little clearer in the light of day.

And you know the night is always gonna be there any way.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite

looking forward to a little afternoon delight.

Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite

and the thought of rubbin' you is getting so exciting.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.

Started out this morning feeling so polite

I always though a fish could not be caught who wouldn't bite

But you've got some bait a waitin' and I think I might try nibbling

a little afternoon delight.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.

Please be waiting for me baby when I come around.

We could make a lot of lovin' 'for the sun goes down.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight

Now I'm a fellar with a heart of gold

With the ways of a gentleman, I've been told

The kind of a fellar that wouldn't even harm a flea

But if me and a certain character met

That guy that invented the cigarette

I'd murder that son-of-a-gun in the first degree.

Now, it ain't 'cause I don't smoke myself

An' I don't reckon that they hinder your health

I've smoked 'em all my life and I ain't dead yet!

But nicotine slaves are all the same

At a pettin' party or a poker game

Ev'rything's gotta stop while they smoke the cigarette.

CHORUS

Smoke!, Smoke!, Smoke! that cigarette

Puff!, Puff!, Puff! it if you smoke yourself to death

Tell Saint Peter at the Golden Gate

That you hates to make him wait

You've just gotta have another cigarette.

In a game of chance the other night

Old Dame Fortune was a-doin' me right

Man, the kings and queens just kept on comin' around

Then I got a full and I bet it high

But my bluff didn't work on a certain guy

He just keep on raisin' and layin' the money down.

Now, he'd raise me - I'd raise him

I sweated blood - you gotta sink or swim

He finally called - didn't raise the bet

I said, "Aces full, Pal, how 'bout you?"

He said, "Well, I'll tell you in just a minute or two

But right now, I just gotta have myself a cigarette."

CHORUS

Now, the other night I had me a date

With the cutest little gal in the forty-eight states

A highbred, uptown, fancy little dame

She said she loved me and it seemed to me

That ev'rything was 'bout like it oughta be

So hand in hand, we strolled down lover's lane.

She was, oh, so far from a chunk of ice

And our smoochin' party was goin' real nice

So help me, Hanna, I think I'd-a been there yet

Well, I give her a kiss - a little squeeze

She said, "Tex, excuse me - please, but

I just gotta have another cigarette."

CHORUS

Oh, once I was happy and had a good wife

I had enough money to last me for life

I met a young woman, and we went on a spree

She taught me to smoke, and to drink whisk-ee

CHORUS:

Cigareeeets and whisky

And wild, wild women

They'll drive you crazy

They'll drive you insane

Cigareeeets and whisky

And wild, wild women

They'll drive you crazy

They'll drive you insane

Cigareeeets is a pox on the whole human race

A man is a monkey with one in his face

Take heed, dear friend, take heed, dear brother

A fire on one end, and a fool on t'other

CHORUS

Now I am weary and broken with age

The lines on my face make a well-written page

Write on the cross at the head of my grave

To women and whiskey here lies a poor slave

CHORUS

Aloha,

Brad

Ain't no more cane on the Brazos

Oh, oh, oh, oh...

Its all been ground down to molasses

Oh, oh- oh, oh- oh...

You shoulda been on the river in 1910

They were driving the women just like they drove the men.

Go down Old Hannah, don'cha rise no more

Don't you rise up til Judgment Day's for sure

Ain't no more cane on the Brazos

Its all been ground down to molasses

Captain, don't you do me like you done poor old Shine

Well ya drove that bully til he went stone blind

Wake up on a lifetime, hold up your own head

Well you may get a pardon and then you might drop dead

Ain't no more cane on the Brazos

Its all been ground down to molasses.

Little Billy was the fattest kid in his class

Always the last in line

All the other little kids would laugh at him

Said he'd die before his time

Ha ha ha ha

Ha ha ha ha

Little Billy didn't mind

Most of the kids smoked cigarettes

Just to prove that they were cool

The teacher didn't know about the children's games

And Billy always followed the rules

Ha ha ha ha

Ha ha ha ha

Little Billy didn't mind

Billy was big on the outside

But there's an even bigger man inside

Ten million cigarettes burning every day

And Billy's still doing fine

Now Billy and his classmates are middle-aged

With children of their own

Their smoking games are reality now

And cancer's seed is sown

Ha ha ha ha

Ha ha ha ha

Little Billy's didn't mind

Most of them smoke maybe forty a day

A habit Billy doesn't share

One by one they're passing away

Leaving orphans to Billy's care

Ha ha ha ha

Ha ha ha ha

Ha ha ha ha

Little Billy doesn't mind

Ha ha ha ha

Ha ha ha ha

Little Billy's doing fine

Bust it!

This here's a jam for all the fellas,

Try to do what those ladies tell us,

get shot down cuz you're over zealous.

Play hard to get, females get jealous.

Ok, smarty go to a party. Girls scantilly clad showin body,

a chick walks by, ya wish ya could sex her

but shes in another world like you was poindexter.

Next day's function, high class luncheon.

Food is served, and you're stone cold munchin'.

Music comes on, people start to dance,

but then you ate so much you nearly split your pants.

A girl starts walkin', guys start gawkin',

sits down next to you and starts talkin'.

Says she wanna dance cuz she likes the groove,

so come on fatso, and just bust a move.

You're on a mission,

and you're wishin' someone could cure your lonely condition.

Lookin for love in all the wrong places,

no fine girls, just ugly faces.

From frustration, first inclination,

is to become a monk and leave the situation.

But every dark tunnel has a light, i hope,

so dong hang yourself with a celibate rope.

New movies shwoin', so you're goin',

could care less about the five you're blowin'.

Theatre gets dark just to start the show,

then you spot a fine woman sittin' in your row.

She's dressed in yellow, she says hello,

come sit nex to me fine fellow.

You run over there without a second to lose,

and what comes next, hey, bust a move.

In the city, laddies look pretty,

guys tell jokes so they can seem witty.

Tell a funny joke just to get some play,

then you try to make a move and she says no way.

Girls are fakin', goodness sakin',

they want a man who brings home the bacon.

Got no money and got no car,

then you got no woman and there you are.

Some girls are sophistic, materialistic,

lookin for a man makes them opportunistic.

They're lyin' on the beach,

perpetratin' a tan so that a

brother with money can be their man

So, on the beach start strollin', real high rollin',

everyting you have is yours and not stolen.

A girl runs up with something to prove,

so dont just stand there, bust a move.

Break it down for me fellas!

Your best friend, harry has a brother larry

in five days from now he's gonna marry.

He's hopin' you can make it there, if you can,

cus in the ceremony you'll be the best man.

You say neato, check your libido,

and roll to the church in your new tuxedo.

The bride walks down, just to start the wedding...

and there's one more girl you wont be getting.

So you start thinkin', then ya start blinkin',

a bride maid looks and thinks that your winkin'

she thinks you're kinda cute so che winks back

and now you're feeling fine cuz the girl is stacked.

Preception's jumpin', bass is pumpin',

look at the girl and your heart starts thumpin'.

Says she wanna dance to a different groove,

now you know what to do, G, bust a move.

Just bust a move.

She had that

Camarillo brillo

Flamin' out along her head,

I mean her Mendocino bean-o

By where some bugs had made it red

She ruled the Toads of the Short Forest

And every newt in Idaho

And every cricket who had chorused

By the bush in Buffalo

She said she was

A Magic Mama

And she could throw a mean Tarot

And carried on without a comma

That she was someone I should know

She had a snake for a pet

And an amulet

And she was breeding a dwarf

But she wasn't done yet

She had grey-green skin

Adoll with apin

I told her she was alright

But I couldn't come in

(I couldn't come in right then...)

And so she wandered

Through the door-way

Just like a shadow from the tomb

She said her stereo was four-way

And I'd just love in her room

Well, I was born

To have adventure

So I just followed up the steps

Right passed her fuming incense stencher

To where she hung her castanets

She stripped away

Her rancid poncho

And laid out naked by the door

We did it till we were unconcho

And it was useless anymore

Darkness at the break of noon

Shadows even the silver spoon

The handmade blade, the child's balloon

Eclipses both the sun and moon

To understand you know too soon

There is no sense in trying.

Pointed threats, they bluff with scorn

Suicide remarks are torn

From the fool's gold mouthpiece

The hollow horn plays wasted words

Proves to warn

That he not busy being born

Is busy dying.

Temptation's page flies out the door

You follow, find yourself at war

Watch waterfalls of pity roar

You feel to moan but unlike before

You discover

That you'd just be

One more person crying.

So don't fear if you hear

A foreign sound to your ear

It's alright, Ma, I'm only sighing.

As some warn victory, some downfall

Private reasons great or small

Can be seen in the eyes of those that call

To make all that should be killed to crawl

While others say don't hate nothing at all

Except hatred.

Disillusioned words like bullets bark

As human gods aim for their mark

Made everything from toy guns that spark

To flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark

It's easy to see without looking too far

That not much

Is really sacred.

While preachers preach of evil fates

Teachers teach that knowledge waits

Can lead to hundred-dollar plates

Goodness hides behind its gates

But even the president of the United States

Sometimes must have

To stand naked.

An' though the rules of the road have been lodged

It's only people's games that you got to dodge

And it's alright, Ma, I can make it.

Advertising signs that con you

Into thinking you're the one

That can do what's never been done

That can win what's never been won

Meantime life outside goes on

All around you.

You lose yourself, you reappear

You suddenly find you got nothing to fear

Alone you stand with nobody near

When a trembling distant voice, unclear

Startles your sleeping ears to hear

That somebody thinks

They really found you.

A question in your nerves is lit

Yet you know there is no answer fit to satisfy

Insure you not to quit

To keep it in your mind and not fergit

That it is not he or she or them or it

That you belong to.

Although the masters make the rules

For the wise men and the fools

I got nothing, Ma, to live up to.

For them that must obey authority

That they do not respect in any degree

Who despise their jobs, their destinies

Speak jealously of them that are free

Cultivate their flowers to be

Nothing more than something

They invest in.

While some on principles baptized

To strict party platform ties

Social clubs in drag disguise

Outsiders they can freely criticize

Tell nothing except who to idolize

And then say God bless him.

While one who sings with his tongue on fire

Gargles in the rat race choir

Bent out of shape from society's pliers

Cares not to come up any higher

But rather get you down in the hole

That he's in.

But I mean no harm nor put fault

On anyone that lives in a vault

But it's alright, Ma, if I can't please him.

Old lady judges watch people in pairs

Limited in sex, they dare

To push fake morals, insult and stare

While money doesn't talk, it swears

Obscenity, who really cares

Propaganda, all is phony.

While them that defend what they cannot see

With a killer's pride, security

It blows the minds most bitterly

For them that think death's honesty

Won't fall upon them naturally

Life sometimes

Must get lonely.

My eyes collide head-on with stuffed graveyards

False gods, I scuff

At pettiness which plays so rough

Walk upside-down inside handcuffs

Kick my legs to crash it off

Say okay, I have had enough

What else can you show me?

And if my thought-dreams could be seen

They'd probably put my head in a guillotine

But it's alright, Ma, it's life, and life only.

It's Alright,Ma

(I'm Only Bleeding)

Just a perfect day

Drink Sangria in the park

And then later

When it gets dark, we go home

Just a perfect day

Feed animals in the zoo

Then later

A movie, too, and then home

Oh, it's such a perfect day

I'm glad I spend it with you

Oh, such a perfect day

You just keep me hanging on

You just keep me hanging on

Just a perfect day

Problems all left alone

Weekenders on our own

It's such fun

Just a perfect day

You made me forget myself

I thought I was

Someone else, someone good

Oh, it's such a perfect day

I'm glad I spent it with you

Oh, such a perfect day

You just keep me hanging on

You just keep me hanging on

You're going to reap just what you sow

Nothing at all. I just never had you pegged as someone who appreciated Reed or the Transformer album. What's rare (but not unheard of) is you not hating something that I don't hate too ;)

If I could be anything in the world that flew

I would be a bat and come swooping after you

And if the last time you were here things were a bit askew ...

Well you know what happens after dark

When rattlesnakes lose their skins and their hearts

And all the missionaries lose their bark

Oh, all the trees are calling after you

And all the venom snipers after you

Are all the mountains bolder after you?

If I could be anyone of the things in this world that bite

Instead of an ocelot on a leash, I'd rather be a kite

And be tied to the end of your string

And flying in the air, babe, at night

Cause you know what they say about honey bears

When you shave off all their baby hair

You have a hairy minded pink bare bear

And all the balls are rolling out for you

And stones are all erupting out for you

And all the cheap bloodsuckers are flying after you

Yesterday, Daisy Mae and Biff were grooving on the street

And just like in a movie, her hands became her feet

Her belly button was her mouth

Which meant she tasted what she'd speak

But the funny thing is what happened to her nose

It grew until it reached all of her toes

Now when people say her feet they mean her nose

And curtains laced with diamonds dear for you

And all the Roman Noblemen for you

And kingdom's Christian Soldiers dear for you

And melting ice cap mountain tops for you

And knights in flamming silver robes for you

And bats that with a kiss turn prince for you

Swoop, Swoop

oh baby,

Rock Rock

Swoop, Swoop, Rock, Rock

I would turn on the tv but its to embarrasing

To see all the other people I dont know what they mean

It was magic first whe they spoke with out sound

and now this is world is gonna hurt you better turn that thing down

turn it around

"It wasnt me" , says the boy with the gun

"sure I pulled the trigger but it need to be done

Cause lifes been killin' meever since it begun

you cant blame cause im much too young"

"you cant blame me sure the killer was my son

but i didnt teach him to pull the trigger of the gun

Its the killer hes see on the tv screen

you cant blame me its those images he's seen"

Well "you cant blame me" says the media man

well "im not the one who came up with the plan

I just point my camera at what the people want to see

Its a two way mirrior and you cant blame me"

"you cant blame me" sas the singer of the song

or the maker of the movie wich he based his life on

"its only entertainment and as anyone can see

The smoke machines and makeup you cant fool me"

It was you it was me it was every man

we've all got blood on our hands

we only recieve what we demand

and if hell is what we want then hell is what well have

And i would turn on the tv

but its to embarrasing

to see all the other people

I dont even know what they mean

and it was magic at first

but it let everyone down

and now thisworld is gonna hurt

you better turn it around

Free - is all that she could bleed

That's why'll she'll never stay

White - bare naked in the night

Just lookin' for some play

Just another girl that wants to rule the world

Any time or place

And when she gets into your head

You know she's there to stay

You want it

She's got it

Molly's chambers gonna change your mind

She's got your

Your pistol

Slow - she's burnin' in your soul

With whispers in your ear

It's okay I'll give it anyway

Just get me out of here

You'll plead - you'll get down on your knees

For just another taste

And when you think she's let you in

That's when she fades away

You want it

She's got it

Molly's chambers gonna change your mind

She's got your

Your pistol

Have you ever had a friend

Whose calls you'd avoid?

Cause you know that in the end

You'd just get destroyed

But there's something in his words

That makes you his best man

You hang on them like girls

Will hang around a rocker's van

He'll push you like a heap

That hasn't any gas

Even though you want to sleep

He keeps pressing on the gas

And he smiles because he's satisfied

To be the only dude

Who knows enough to reach inside

And out the bad in you

Only you

Only you

Then he'll get you thinking

That your love can't be the one

That the ship you're on is sinking

You should board another one

As he fills your gut with suds

And fumigates your mind

Sailing on some lonely tub

Is sounding better all the time

But to only you

Only you

You're laying blame for the morning

You lay it out like it was clothing

But when the black sky is turning blue

You're blaming him

But it's only you

Only you

Have you ever had a friend

Whose calls you'd avoid?

I will not go down under the ground

"Cause somebody tells me that death's comin' 'round

An' I will not carry myself down to die

When I go to my grave my head will be high,

Let me die in my footsteps

Before I go down under the ground.

There's been rumors of war and wars that have been

The meaning of the life has been lost in the wind

And some people thinkin' that the end is close by

"Stead of learnin' to live they are learning to die.

Let me die in my footsteps

Before I go down under the ground.

I don't know if I'm smart but I think I can see

When someone is pullin' the wool over me

And if this war comes and death's all around

Let me die on this land 'fore I die underground.

Let me die in my footsteps

Before I go down under the ground.

There's always been people that have to cause fear

They've been talking of the war now for many long years

I have read all their statements and I've not said a word

But now Lawd God, let my poor voice be heard.

Let me die in my footsteps

Before I go down under the ground.

If I had rubies and riches and crowns

I'd buy the whole world and change things around

I'd throw all the guns and the tanks in the sea

For they are mistakes of a past history.

Let me die in my footsteps

Before I go down under the ground.

Let me drink from the waters where the mountain streams flood

Let me smell of wildflowers flow free through my blood

Let me sleep in your meadows with the green grassy leaves

Let me walk down the highway with my brother in peace.

Let me die in my footsteps

Before I go down under the ground.

Go out in your country where the land meets the sun

See the craters and the canyons where the waterfalls run

Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Idaho

Let every state in this union seep in your souls.

And you'll die in your footsteps

Before you go down under the ground.

Im from the east coast of Canada, home of the bag pipe

Known for the fiddle players, beer and our keg price

Known for Alexander Keith's and the donair

Home of the Mooseheads but I dont really go there

We pay a buck for a litre of gas and

Smokes cost ten dollars a pack damn

We always mix our tabacco with weed

It's just the way we always done it, shit it's natural to me

So let me tackle the beat then unravel the scene,

And let you people know what you never travel to see

We got battle MCs we got story tellers

And we got awful MCs, corny motherfuckers

We got everything you wanna hear, concious to backpack

Commercial to gangsta, R&B to abstact

Grunge to rock, classical to country

So many artists workin' but no one makin money

Welcome to the east coast home of the innocent

Still pigeon-holed is a farmer or fisherman

No major league teams, baseball or hockey

No urban radio, just country and pop beats

I'm trying to shake these stereotypes

So give me space please let me arrow my life,

I dont even eat fish, shit I never tried lobster

Can't play the fiddle, and never was a logger

Wanna swim in clean lakes yeah and enjoy cool breezes

But Halifax harbour is like swimming in diseases

We only known for Anne Of Green Gables

Coal mines, the Bluenose and PEI potatoes,

The maritimes is better than that

We livin' in another time so dead or without

We got Universal Soul and Buck 65 and

The whole CTG and of course Classified

We got Backburner, Goodnight, Alpha Flight, Lockdown

Whiteboy, First Words, Trobiz and L-Town

And a million other artists trying to get their flow heard,

And to let ya know we still workin on these outskirts

We tryin to blow like Halifax explosion

Or maybe Anne Murray, I know she's Nova Scotian

Or Hurricane Juan blowin from the ocean

Either way it goes I'm still reppin for my coast man
