Gonna see The Hip tomorrow in London.

Just back from this one. Really enjoyed it. These days the Hip strike me as a band who have nothing to prove to anyone and know it...loose and feelin' good about where they're at and what they're doing. Setlist stuck close to the classics. Opened with NOIS which was a bit of surprise to me. Nice acoustic set in the middle. Jim Bryson provided some tasteful backup on keys.

I'm a huge Kathleen Edwards fan, but this wasn't the bill for her. Sandwiched between the Spades/Arkells and the Hip, her set came just as some clowns were getting well-lubricated and over-anxious. She held her ground though and when they started to chant Hip! Hip! she'd join them and when they stopped, she'd go: "Whatthefuck is with that?"

To be honest, I don't think three opening acts are necessary. Just more time for some folks to get stupid. I say let the young guns do their thing, then bring on Downie and the boys (though I heard it was a different dynamic in Wiarton w/Sam Roberts in the third slot).
