    cast iron

I did that same thing and it worked out great. one other bit of cast iron love, I bought Mangrates for my Weber charcoal grill. Holy crap did they ever increase the perfection of my grilling. Quality cast iron is really essential for super heated searing, conservation, and even distribution of heat. I have certainly learned that in the last couple of years.
  2. Roasting hisself in front of the mirror. Funny. I bet he f'n does that too. If you want a good norm moment....just watch...the 3 part Norm appearance on Conan O'Brien

    The King

seriously? I can't imagine Elvis older than this...
  4. I bet you that you can make less garbage.
  5. Gatineau is doing that. Garbage every 2 weeks, same with recycling, but compost material is EVERY week. seems like a good plan to me.

    cast iron

are you trying to communicate to foodies or wookies? We have 2 cast iron skillets that came from Ms.Hux's lineage and they are WELL seasoned. I've been able to sear the crap out of salmon, steak, chicken, any protein out there and finish them in the oven with glee. We moved on to enamelled cast iron pots as well for long braises and sauces. Cast iron is the shit, but so is stainless steel and copper. I never thought of looking at OLD cast iron cookware. That is a great concept. Though probably a bitch to ship. I guess I'll have to get up at 6 AM on sundays and hit up the flea markets and garage sales Thanks for the link. I just did a quick ebay search and found that there are tons of really old well seasoned pans for .... very little compared to new La Creuset cookware. Maybe I should start looking for old knives too! edit: just confirmed. the cast iron skillets we have are REALLY old wagners from ms.hux's grandmother's grandmothers something something. No wonder they are awesome. I want to find more ancient cookware. It lasts forever!
  7. Along with Hamilton on the 9th, he's doing a show at the Lindsay Academy Theatre on the 10th of march. With the 6th booked for Kingston, I would hazard a guess that he's probably got a couple of other shows in the works for toronto, ottawa, montreal.
  8. I heard interviews with a number of the roasters and other comedians and they all called it comedy genius. I can just laugh at his face. He's just got this cocky look that makes me laugh.
  9. yeah, I wanted to go to that but I can't remember why we had to miss it. There was something already planned. What the hell made me miss that?
  10. DEM, Colbert's is already in the library. Ms.Hux got it a when it came out. I haven't gotten to it yet. Have I mentioned that Audible is a really wicked service? I'm only cancelling because I cannot keep up with the credits now that Ms.Hux has a Kindle. Audiobooks are fantastic for passing the time, or making a monotonous passage of time feel less so. 1 credit = 1 book. $14.95/mth is the basic plan for 1 credit (book) per month. you can get a free trial with one free book using this link worth a shot.
  11. awaits brothers comment with anticipation. Should I get a habs jersey and cap to go with the hockey skates before I get on the ice? Or are the bauer hockey skates enough? Ahhh fack it. I've just returned from the Canadian Tire and loaded up for canal skating. I setup my camera on th e tri-pod for a self portrait. Ready to skate!

    True Grit

I feel like popcorn so maybe I'll get to see this in the theatre.
  13. Just got 2 tix. I was hoping to see a date show up in Ottawa, but I'm not waiting around. The Grand Theatre is small. He's also playing Hamilton Place....FYI. Regarding the Bob Saget roast...that was very fuckin' funny. I guess you missed the spin he put on the 'expected' comedy. Norm's nutz man.
  14. that's about right. thanks davey. I'll borrow yours. 10 1/2?
  15. Thanks Brad. However, I do want to commit to some skates to own.
  16. Thanks brad. I now know why it didn't show up in my search... Thanks for the suggestions. I found a few that looked interesting. Here's how I completed the list. The Lost Gate - Orson Scott Card The Black Hole War: My Battle with Stephen Hawking to Make the World Safe for Quantum Mechanics Scar Tissue: Anthony Kiedis
  17. can't find it. They have one called "Miles To Go" but it's got a pretty shitty rating. Well...3-3.5 stars out of five. 4 and up is really good.
  18. yeah, it's 24 hours! And it's not read by Keef. It's way more entertaining, and you get a better sense of the life story when they're read by the actual subject. That's why I loved the paul shaffer, william shatner, and artie lange bios. They read them, though artie had a couple other Stern show folk take on some chapters. Jim Florentine's was hilarious. He can't read well, so Howard had a bunch of outtakes on his show last year. Priceless.
  19. I guess I'd better get some skates. Is there an option for casual skates for men? I can only seem to find hockey skates. I've heard that there is a recreational type of skate.
  20. I'm closing off my audible account and I have 5 credits (books) to use before I cancel. I dig biographies and really good fiction. I've recently read (in book form) Slash, I Am Ozzy, Dirt, and the Mackenzie Phillips bio (what a facked up life!). Audio books I've gone through in the last couple of years are the ender's game series (main story), Artie Lange's bio, Paul Shaffer's bio, Shatner's bio, and a cool sci-fi series called Spin. I've got an interesting one to listen to still called Outliers. These are mostly to listen to on a treadmill or in the car. Here are the 2 I'm sold on. If you've got some suggestions, please post a reply.
  21. I have never found that place pricey. Mind you, I just usually get a regular cheese burger, fries and a drink. under $10. Their regular burger is that good that I don't need to make it bigger and overly complicated. A good simple cheeseburger is the best in my book!
