  4. Neil Young's 10-CD set of never released recordings has a new lease on life. Long rumored and long delayed, Reprise will release the collection of recordings from 1963-1972 on Blu-ray in the fall. Young, an audio fanatic who released his greatest hits on PCM 24/96 and recently assisted in an acoustic revamp of Red Rocks in Colorado, says “It is important for me that the user experience the high resolution music along with the archival visual material." Through Blu-ray and Java technology, viewers will be able to navigate through Young's music, movies, videos, personal archives, memorabilia, photographs, letters, handwritten manuscripts and more while the high resolution 192/24 audio is playing. Announcement was made at the JavaOne conference in Northern California Tuesday. "Previously, there was no way to browse archival material on a disc and listen to a song in high resolution at the same time" Young said in a statement. “Previous technology required unacceptable quality compromises. I am glad we waited and got it right. "And here is something really new, we will be able to add content to already released Blu-ray Disc archive volumes by downloading it, whether it is music, film or vintage recording sessions, recently found photographs, or other archival materials that were located after the release of that volume. Users will be able to download any of these archival materials and they will automatically be assigned to their place in the chronology timeline.” Java.com will be featuring the work with Neil Young and the archive project in a special Java + Neil Young segment. Java + Neil Young will include links to Young's appearance at JavaOne, as well as links to more information about the upcoming Blu-ray Disc package.

  8. I can only bend on the mid-range to higher holes. I tried doing the first few holes and pull off some notes that would make up a scale, but my mouth just won't pull it off. http://www.harmonicaclub.com/common/note_bending_for_harmonica.htm
  9. you should have asked "who doesn't like the sitar?" In grade 10, when I was first really getting into the beatles, serious about guitar, and had absolutely NO concept of money, I asked my indian friend's mother if they would bring me back a Sitar from India the next time they went to visit family. I recall that she basically said (in a very strong indian accent) "I don't think that you realize how much money they are.". I figured I just needed $50 since it was coming from India. I didn't really understand. Well, they aren't a cheap thing to get into, but they are f'n awesome. I kinda wish that I had pulled it off because maybe I would be amazing at it now.
  10. twitter is that thing that you do when Jordan tells you something that he did.
  11. VON BONDIES FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2009 THE HORSESHOE TAVERN - TORONTO Doors 9:00pm Show 10:00pm Tickets on sale Friday, January 9 @ 10am Tickets available at all Ticketmaster outlets and Rotate This Charge by phone at 416.870.8000 Order online at or www.ticketmaster.ca Tickets (incl. GST) $10.00; General Admission, 19+ FMF and applicable service charges extra For the Von Bondies, the most important reason to make music isn’t a complicated one. “We’re here to entertain people so they forget that they have a 9 to 5 job to go to in the morning,” says Jason Stollsteimer, the Michigan-based band’s singer-songwriter-guitarist. “We love what we do or else we wouldn’t do it; it’s for us and the fans.” The roots of the Von Bondies can be traced back to the late ’90s—at one point Jason had a band called the Baby Killers—but things really began in earnest during 1999 when Don Blum teamed up with Stollsteimer. The name Von Bondies was born in 2000, and the first album, Lack of Communication, came the following year. 2003 saw the release of Raw and Rare, a collection of live BBC recordings and in 2004 the smash album Pawn Shoppe Heart. Recorded for a major label, it gave the band the higher profile they needed in order to be heard outside of the usual alt-rock confines. With the February 2009 release of Love, Hate and Then There’s You, the Von Bondies’ third studio album and their debut for Majordomo Records (a division of Shout! Factory), those fans will experience a band that’s come a long way on the rock n roll journey. Now in their ninth year together the Von Bondies have taken their music to new places while holding on to the core values they’ve always exhibited. For more information on the Von Bondies please visit www.myspace.com/vonbondies. The Von Bondies perform live in Toronto at the Horseshoe Tavern on Friday, February 13, 2009!
