  1. Bobby soundchecked it at Red Rocks in '85 i believe. Had it on a tape from way back then and always liked hearing it. Of course, he didn't remember ALL the lyrics
  2. take a step back ... As I sat down one evening within a small cafe, A forty year old waitress to me these words did say: "I see that you are a logger, and not just a common bum, 'Cause nobody but a logger stirs his coffee with is thumb. My lover was a logger, there's none like him today; If you'd pour whiskey on it he could eat a bale of hay He never shaved his whiskers from off of his horny hide; He'd just drive them in with a hammer and bite them off inside. My lover came to see me upon one freezing day; He held me in his fond embrace which broke three vertebrae. He kissed me when we parted, so hard that he broke my jaw; I could not speak to tell him he'd forgot his mackinaw. I saw my lover leaving, sauntering through the snow, Going gaily homeward at forty-eight below. The weather it tried to freeze him, it tried its level best; At a hundred degrees below zero, he buttoned up his vest. It froze clean through to China, it froze to the stars above; At a thousand degrees below zero, it froze my logger love. They tried in vain to thaw him, and would you believe me, sir They made him into axeblades, to chop the Douglas fir. And so I lost my lover, and to this cafe I come, And here I wait till someone stirs his coffee with his thumb."
  3. I am now TOTALLY planning on going. Gotta get tix now. What night are you guys going???
  4. It goes with the territory of collectibles. Just think of how the sports card industry went crazy in the 90s. Same thing for comic books (graphic novels). It's that whole don't-take-it-out-of-the-packaging, don't even look at it collector mentality. Are you collecting for the product or the thrill of the find? Are you buying collectibles to support your own collectibles craze? One man gathers what another man spills ...
  5. Here's another one: http://movierush.blogspot.com/2008/10/recover-lost-data-3122.html Let me know if you want it and i'll get it for ya.
  6. Scary shit. http://crooksandliars.com/david-neiwert/mccainpalin-supporters-let-their-rac It was kind of strange, dintcha think, that John McCain came to the defense of his supporters last night after Barack Obama pointed out that people at McCain/Palin rallies were shouting out "terrorist" and "kill him!" in reference to Obama. Now an Al Jazeera camera crew caught the honest sentiments of McCain/Palin supporters at an Ohio rally: “I’m afraid if he wins, the blacks will take over. He’s not a Christian! This is a Christian nation! What is our country gonna end up like?†“When you got a Negra running for president, you need a first stringer. He’s definitely a second stringer.†“He seems like a sheep - or a wolf in sheep’s clothing to be honest with you. And I believe Palin - she’s filled with the Holy Spirit, and I believe she’s gonna bring honesty and integrity to the White House.†“He’s related to a known terrorist, for one.†“He is friends with a terrorist of this country!†“He must support terrorists! You know, uh, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck. And that to me is Obama.†“Just the whole, Muslim thing, and everything, and everybody’s still kinda - a lot of people have forgotten about 9/11, but… I dunno, it’s just kinda… a little unnerving.†“Obama and his wife, I’m concerned that they could be anti-white. That he might hide that.†“I don’t like the fact that he thinks us white people are trash… because we’re not!†Yep, McCain must be so proud. The rest of us, well ... let's just say those polls should tell the story.
  7. he's back: See more funny videos at Funny or Die
  8. I forgot about that whole lights coming on thing! Ha. It was kinda weird. I thought that they were trying to shut down the show or something since it was after 11pm at that point. It really did get the crowd going again though
  9. Yup! Actually it was more than that. I had forgotten. Take a look here: http://www.expressobeans.com/public/detail.php/40 Mine was #41 or #22. I'll have to check my photos at home. It was for the Great Went Robot print. They figure there are only about 25 of them that survived the weekend with no damage. The purchaser was a serious Phish poster collector out in Oregon. He had the money and wanted it. A serious bidding war happened when I sold it on eBay. While it was a nice reminder of the event, it looked more like a $4000 piece of parchment when I discovered it's "fair market value" http://www.phishposterarchive.com/phish-went-stories.htm
  10. So, you have the opportunity to turn $100 into $1000. Do you do it? I had a Phish poster that I purchased at the Great Went. I kept it safe during the horrendous weather at the start of that fest. Turns out it is the Holy Grail of Phish posters. I bought it for $25, somebody paid me $4000.00 for it. I guess I should have sold it to him for face value since he was a kind Phishead?? If I got tix for Hampton I would be tempted (and would most likely do it) sell 'em if somebody was throwing 10x the purchase price for them. That would get me into one helluva lot of concerts.
  11. LOL ... somehow I still am able to get some work done around here Take a listen to McCain's message on Obama's voicemail
  12. Some nice photos of the festivities: http://www.collegian.psu.edu/archive/2008/10/14/photo_gallery_change_rocks_con.aspx
  13. and this is truly ridiculous; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKaWmt3ncBg
  14. McCain is going to be on Letterman tonight! Should be good for some fireworks. Tina Fey is on Letterman on Friday
  15. Last night's debate was wayyy more entertaining than the previous two. I think that Obama kicked some McCain ass as well. All the shit that McCain could fling was deflected coherently and truthfully by Obama. Three strikes and yer out McCain. Get ready to lose on November 4th.
  16. haha. I wish. Staff there really don't get much access to tix at all. They are treated like shit by a company that cheaps-out on everything. The only thing he's ever been able to do for me is save on the service fees a couple of times
  17. However, TicketBastard does hold tickets that they then put up for "auction" on their own site. If they do it there, why not on the others? I have a buddy who works for the Bastards and says that the increased sale value of their "auctioned" tix go straight into their pockets. You'd think that for those concerts where they do this practice that the artist would get that inflated profit. In their faq they make it sound like it's always client/artist driven, but my buddy says no. Take a look through their bullshit here; http://www.ticketmaster.ca/ticketauctions?tm_link=tm_home_d1 Plus, YOU can SCALP your tix on TicketBastard.ca if you want. They actually HELP you do this. Take a look at people scalping Neil Diamond tix right now on their site; http://www.ticketmaster.ca/exchange/10004130A1A25FB5/?tm_link=edp_buytix Gotta love it. And then TicketBastard will make a profit on your scalping there by charging a fee when they sell. TicketBastard claimed that this sort of behaviour was crooked before they decided to figure out how to get in on the action and now they pussy-foot around what's right/wrong. I can't wait for him to get a new job (he can't stand it there anymore) and he can spill some of the dirt that he's collected
  18. It was a video message placed up on the big screen on stage prior to the Dead set.
  19. Here are the boys practicing St. Stephen: Here's a clip of the Dead (Grateful Dead) rehearsing on Oct. 13, 2008 just prior to their Change Rocks concert and benefit for Barack Obama. This tape represents the first time the Dead have been back together since 2003 and one of the first times in their 40 year history that they have backed a specific candidate. So join us on this little trip as we take you backstage to hang with Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzman, Warren Haynes & Jeff Chimenti more commonly known as the Dead. This is the Dead rehearsing St. Stephen . . . we hope you enjoy it. We were able to spend quite a bit of time with the Dead that day and there will be more clips to follow. http://blip.tv/file/1360862
