I have not gone 2 years without reading the trilogy since I was 14.....saw the movie 3 times in the theatre, what made it so good was how true they stayed to the books (some editing had to be done- understandable and forgiveable). The most exciting thing on the DVD was the 10 minute special on The Two Towers... unbelievable amount of work into these films. I am going to explode if I talk any more...

Thanks to everyone who came out, both as spectators and as players, you all bailed me out of cancelling my band!! I had a blast, even though I have my head down way too much to be a band leader, I hung everybody out to dry a few times by not giving any cues... I was really into it though.... the overall energy in the room makes the night special no matter what is going on. I'm sure I'll see everyone soon enough,,,thanks again.
Oh, bradm, its Chris Gauthier, and we grew up together in Rustico, PEI. Started our first high school bands together and played together for about 8 years before he moved to Toronto... I finally caught up to him again (geographically- he is a much better guitar player than I am a bass player).
Cheers...

Thanks to the host and organizers Treyter and Bouche, that was just the bender I needed to close out my first summer holidays and get me primed for the next summer holiday (east coast evolve road trip baby). Been in a deep fog all day. I will take the title of being the last one up, I went from the fire to a chair in the living room at 5:35 AM. Didn't drink the most though, I forgot to drink while the jamming was happening. Long live the Porno Funk Allstars.....see you cats soon.

Booche my man, don't worry, I couldn't have stayed, I had to do a shift of the hell drive back to TO. Another time, I'd love to stay for the weekend. Thanks to everyone who came out to see us, you made the music happen. Looking forward to going back to Ottawa really soon. I'd chat more but I gotta head over to rehab. Harpua, thanks for the place to crash Friday morning and let me know how the tapes of last night turned out. Cheers

i just may have to stop by, my orange hatted friend.....sorry I missed you at MM&W, I ended up getting so messy (on lack of sleep + various substances consumed in a short amt of time) that I fell backwards into the row behind me...now I can say I was in such a deep groove that I fell over!! P.S. thanks Passed Out Guy....

Hey, we are just taking taking it a gig at a time. Anything can happen in this volatile melting pot that we call making music. I personally love Jeff's playing, but there are no commitments. Don't go gossiping, you li'l sanctuary devils!! (my fault for being vague-our web page will be SLIGHTLY amended). Look for some new & improved DownTime coming soon to a watering hole near you....(June 5th @ the Comfort Zone being the next time). Our dates on our web page:
DownTime
Oh, the fun, the fun, we'll have ....

"They are decent, but there are much better bands in the Northeast right now. "
I'm sorry, but could you please clarify how these other bands are "better"? I am not trying to suggest that you are wrong, or that The Slip is better, but I am curious about specific factors that you think might make a band "better". I have seen The Slip and, having attempted to be a musician myself, my opinion of The Slip is that they are three people who have very obviously dedicated their lives to their instruments and their collective music.
I think the only reason I am writing this is because the previous post might actually dissuade people from going to see a band that has profoundly moved people, myself included. I am definitely not saying that everybody will like this band as much as I did; I am just clarifying and reiterating that "better" means personal preference and should be not be thrown around lightly. Sorry for my little piece here, but its late night and I've been going about this subject for weeks now...by the same token, by what I just said, somebody might be let down by the expectations my opinion would suggest and be disappointed. So I'm not saying that you're wrong; I am just pointing out my personal dislike of "better" or "worse" in regard to music. Thanks for putting up with me...
