  1. I went last night (second night) and can say that there were definitely some ups and downs, and for me, the ups far outweighed the downs. Neil was the man, Old Man and Harvest Moon in the acoustic mini-set killed me. Felt sorry for poor old Steve trying his best, but he was (as always) in Neil's shadow. Crosby was great on Almost Cut My Hair and Long Time Gone. Other highlights were Wooden Ships, Southern Man, Teach Your Children and Woodstock. I saw opening night in Detroit of CSN&Y 2000, I thought they were a bit better then(Nash and Crosby did a 2 man "Guinevere" then, and Neil played After The Goldrush on organ with his harmonica- that was the shit) mainly because of some newer, weaker songs that seemed like filler this time- but I'm glad they tried 'em rather than just give us the same old stuff for the whole night. Anyway, it was worth the $70 to me ($10 of which went to TicketBastard).

  2. Dude, sorry I can't help either, all I know is that the new place for live music is called The Waterfront now that the Brickyard has closed down. I don't know anything about housing or public transit, sorry. There's lots of good kids around though, and good beer. Good luck...

  3. Thanks for clearing that up about Mickey, I was quite curious. What a dumbass thing to say!! On a sidenote, we used to do Gin n' Juice the way the Gourds do it. Ridiculous how many people thought that was Phish! Anyway, James would dial up a banjo sound on his synth and away we would go, mainly as an encore on the super drunk nights. The novelty quickly wore off....

  4. What the hell, Jomomma's van broke down right before their last show at the Comfort Zone. It must be a message....as I did with them I will offer my van(the DownTime steed, Ziggy)-I'm cheaper than a rental! If you need it call me:

    Serious inquiries only....just kidding.

See you nerocats at the zone tonight!

  5. Indeedy, indeedy, I agree with a bunch of stuff here... I was down on the floor when they started and was appalled....why would the sound man hate the bass player? Nobody hates bass players..... wink.gif" border="0 I was going to pour my beer on the sound man's head from the upper balcony, but discretion got the better of me. Stanton Moore was the man...wicked drummer! He reminded me a bit of Ben Perowsky (Scofield). I had never heard of him(Moore) before but then I read in jambase.com's newsletter that he is releasing a solo album with a bunch of heavies playing on it. Could be interesting. Galactic was great, NOBODY I talked to liked Houseman (I heard a girl next to me say "Look at the singer- he's just a big penis."). IMO, he actually wasn't that bad in small quantities. OK, I'm looking back and those last 2 sentences are a big, bad setup....but I'll leave them for comic relief. Anyway, great show, definitely worth $15.

  6. .......just because there hasn't been a post about 'em yet today!!! (I wish there was a counter on how many times this page gets looked at!!)

P.S. What are the fans called? CakeHeadz?

P.P.S. Picture this: Cheesecake announce their Year 2020 "Perfect Vision" Comeback Tour....

OK, OK, I know, I should get a life....(and post something about supper or breakfast? I'm still laughing....)

  7. After Sunday and Monday being a slightly uncomfortable(if you're in a t-shirt) 12 degrees celsius or so, Toronto is finally getting a nice blast of winter. Its snowing like hell as I type. Haven't posted anything since the weekend so I would like to say hi to all people I may have met Friday night, unfortunately, I would also like to say sorry for anything I may or may not have said, or strange things I may or may not have done or just general rowdiness....lets just say the whole night is a wee bit blurry. RanchStaffer, CanuckDuck, did I even say goodbye? Don't remember. Gentlemonkey and Pablo, thanks for the couch at le Palais nero. Bouche, Harpua, doubleB, everyone else, good to see you. Anything else I should know? I'll have to tell you about the next morning's sendoff some other time.

  8. Well, I don't have a damn thing to say about the weather, but I've been loving how many smartassed posts came in today! How amusing. I'm sitting here reading this instead of looking for a job. (OK, maybe just a few more minutes of Final Fantasy III after I post this).....

  9. Thank you Ottawa!! And all you sanctuarians, I know that you were the strongest contingent present, as well as the most receptive to the stuff that we do. And amazingly, there was about a dozen people from PEI there! Including the thing that really freaked me out, my parents walking in right before we started! They just HAPPENED to be on their way back to PEI from Florida and just HAPPENED to have a stopover in Ottawa and decided to stay with my aunt and uncle who had been told about the gig by my cousin. Weirdness, let me tell you. The worst part was being hung on 4:19 all night! Remedied shortly after we stopped. But the crowd was great, it really shows that whole mutual energy concept between the band and the crowd, a couple of our things soared a lot higher than our last few gigs. Anyway, thanks again to everyone who came, cool to put faces to the aliases, thanks to doubleB for the gig and bouche for promotion help. Hope to see you soon.....

  10. Has anyone else been reading this stuff? Blechh... this is from aintitcoolnews.com frown.gif" border="0

(I wish the following were untrue)

I wanted to pass on a gut-churning rumor I just heard. Entertainment Tonight (or some replica) just revealed that Lucas is putting the members of NSync in Episode 2. Apparently his 13 year old daughter begged him to include the saccharine fluff-hosers, so he's inserting them as extras who will die. In other news, authorities have sent out a search party to find Lucas' soul.

After that, its now being printed that his (George Lucas) children will also have roles in the movie(theforce.net). In other Bizarro World News, 2 guys in Seattle have started to wait in line for tickets already.

Boy, this just made my life a whole lot more normal.

  11. Definitely a fun night at Baba's, and good to meet the nero cats. It just happened that that particular night was the one night of my whole 10 day holiday that I couldn't stay up late night (its gonna take me a month to dry out) so I missed going over to the club with the boys. I can just imagine that your friendly hosts were slightly inebriated- we had been at a party earlier that night. Anyway, looking forward to the next chance to see nero play....cheers and happy new year.

  12. Went last night....I was in the perfect state of mind(tee-hee) and had been looking forward to it for almost 2 years.....4 words: EVERYTHING I HOPED FOR. Sure, there were some deviations from the book, but I was expecting it given the scope of what they were trying to create. A 3 hour ride on the edge of my seat. The mines of moria were chilling, and the balrog- perfect. People applauded at the end of the movie and when Aragorn saved Boromir from the Uruk-Hai captain. Looking forward to seeing it at least 1 or 2 more times over the holidays. Anyone else have any comments? Just thought I would share my thoughts, I have not been riveted in a movie theatre like that since Saving Private Ryan. I have been a big LOTR fan for a long time, though. Interested to hear from other people who might not have been familiar with the story. Anyway, heading home for Xmas tomorrow, cheers and happy holidays to all....

P.S. Thanks to BB for lining us up a trip to Ottawa, really looking forward to meeting some people (do you really look like your avatars?) on January 12 @ the Bayou.

P.P.S. Hey Nero boys, see you at Baba's on the 28th!! We play there the next night, that place is tiny but ALWAYS a blast. I'll be sure to go up and give you a holiday boot in the arse(snicker).
