  1. ... Although it seems like Sloan was heavily rumoured or announced when the fest was Sept 11 & 12, along with Arkells and Malajube. Sloan is recording now with no tour dates until after Thanksgiving so I doubt they'll be in Ottawa this weekend.
  2. Citizen is saying that Sloan is a maybe for the fest. And that chris white is involved http://www.ottawacitizen.com/mobile/iphone/story.html?id=3565906
  3. Here's my Slip intro, even though I'm loathe to talk about them on this website.... In the summer of '98 the dude I met Scottie King through or maybe the other way around (initials MT - a Phish trader who I gave a few shows to when he found out I was a 45 minute drive away and had a good collection) invited me to his cottage for an afternoon. He burned me a few CDs in return for the Phish shows, From The Gecko was one of them. He had seen them earlier that summer I think and raved about them. That CD was pretty killer for me back then, and for years after. I saw them probably 10 or 13 times over their career, 3 states, 3 provinces, all kinds of different venues. good times.
  4. Schedule has been updated online. Final 4 unchanged but other bands have moved around.
  5. online day tickets are $20, but at the door they're $30. that's quite the mark-up.
  6. The lineup has been posted. Saturday isn't interesting, but Sunday evening / night looks pretty good. Wonder if it will go ahead or be a trainwreck? 7. i'm glad shad didn't win and i was really surprised that so many people picked him for the win. i don't hear much substance in his rhymes. too much searching for a witty couplet and not enough storytelling. the old prince was much better than tsol, imo.
  8. Boognish FTW!! Fuck you Madonna!
  9. i will bet that the majority of the people unhappy with the choice haven't heard the album. i picked caribou for the win. just sayin'
  10. i don't think that brine line is working.... can you add it again jay? i'm sure i'd love a good brined tenderloin.
  11. Thank you sir! In other news, it looks like things are a go, but geez, nothing like leaving it to last minute. The Sadies are always good to see, but I doubt I (or many others) will attend this.
  12. details on that kim mitchell show svp...
  13. yeah dinghy, that's gold right there.
  14. make a mushroom stuffing type thing and slice er open and stuff it and tie it up again. delicious. or, this is what i usually do. roughly chop some garlic. cut shallow slits in the pork every inch or two, pack garlic into the slits. drizzle and rub the loin with balsamic. rub a little bit of olive oil on the loin (maybe half or a quarter of the quantity you used of balsamic). rub with your favourite spice blend all over (montreal steak spice is delicious, as is a lemon pepper blend, or greek spice). cook til it gets to about 150 F, pull it off the heat and cover it, let it rest for 5-10 minutes. slice and enjoy.
  15. Apparently he called Bob Mckenzie and said "Here we go again. They're trying to kill me before I'm dead. I come to Quebec to spend some time with my family and they say I'm dead. I'm not dead, far fucking from it. They've had me dead since June. Tell I'm alive. Set them straight."
  16. As for proximity, the same venue within 24 hours is about as close as you can get. That's my point. Who knows if it's right.
  17. If the Phish shows and the benefit show are different promoters, there's likely to be a proximity clause. Especially if the Phish shows aren't selling well. Just sayin'. Don't know any details.
  18. Maybe wherever they played / are going to play in that neighborhood soon / recently has a proximity clause in the contract or something? (I don't know phish tour dates so excuse me if this is way off)
  19. I was furious when I read the title of this thread - you titled it to read like the Bruno character was playing Freddie. Misleading. But, if anyone is going to pull of Mercury in film I think Baron Cohen is a great pick. Their voices aren't all that similar, but I think he can pull off the mannerisms well.
  20. http://lysten.ca/lystenfestival/ So apparently there's a very poorly advertised and severely thin-lineuped music festival at the Ottawa baseball stadium September 24-26. Has anyone even heard of this, let alone know anything more that what the sparse website shows? Looks pretty weak and amateur-ish.
