    Split Pea Soup

Anyone know how to spice up the old traditional recipe? I am trying to avoid the salt which is a big part of most soups... I'm thinking green beans, garlic, carrot..... any suggestions?

  5. That is horrible! Your sister must have felt awful. She was only 5 and I was 7 so I don't remember. All I remember was my dad leaving with Luke, his gun and a shovel. You don't want to know what happened to Cricket! Ahh, growing up in the country.
  6. Lauzon has his nails done doesn't he?
  7. Was your dad hunting Luke' date=' or is that still to be disclosed?[/quote'] My dad shot him...burried him in the woods. My siblings and I tried to find the grave and dig him back up but couldn't...probably a good thing.
  8. I had a dog named Luke when I was a kid, he was given to us, he bit my sister in the face, my dad took him out hunting and Luke never came back with him!
  9. Ha Yeah things die all the time, and the sugar industry can't use the U.S. factory farming beef and pig bones. But as I see it, refined sugar is so terrible for you anyway, if you can eliminate it from your diet then why not?
  10. For now, I make little "inventions" and get B. to try them...and if [color:green]he doesn't like it I know its really bad haha
  11. Most white sugar is filtered through bone char. http://www.askcarla.com/answers.asp?QuestionandanswerID=534 There are so many things I didn't know (animal by-products in so many things) and when I found out about bone char I decided to try tourbino sugar which is isn't refined or filtered, it usually comes in big chunks so I melt it in warm water before using in in my baking....I guess I could throw it in the blender and see what happens....I'm vegetarian, not vegan, but I like to bake and cook vegan sometimes..I find it challenging.
  12. Is there such a thing? I've been looking around..can't find any.
  13. Details eh? Well...with a Government Department, a panel of 5. It lasted almost 2 hours. I spilt my water all over the table. And found myself thinking about the strangest things, like how my cat ate tinsel one Christmas and it was flowing out her @ss when I came home that night...it was so weird. I managed to keep it together but I got some pretty funny looks. That and I kept drawing blanks at the simplest questions. And I think that I forgot how to speak french overnight!
  14. What's the worst job interview you've ever had? I had a pretty bad one today!
  15. You're right Brad, I think that brie puff pastry sounds pretty good, I'll let you know what I come up with and if I win I'll share my winnings with you. Thanks
  16. Simple isn't a word for these bake off freaks, last Bake Off was 'blueberry'. I made Blueberry filled donuts and won 2nd. I don't like losing to the yappy male lawyers! (there are usually about 15 entries)

    Cherry Bake Off

I'm in a bake off at work and the title is "Anything with Cherries" and well, I need a good recipe with [color:red]fresh cherries. If I win, I'll split the $ with ya (winner usually takes home $40-$60). And people go all out. Reason I need help: I really dislike Maraschino cherries and stay away from all cherry desserts. Thanks

    Need a life?

I think that Freeker should do this
  19. I need both right now. I was raised out in the country at the end of a gravel road with no one sight (btw, party lines suck), the nearest town was 30min drive population 5,000.....maybe a little too secluded (my siblings and I had an imaginary nemesis), but my back yard was 170 acres, and by the time I moved out I knew it like the back of my hand. If I have kids, I want them to experience that kind of freedom. For now I like Centretown Ottawa, the suburbs give me the creeps.
  20. Business and pleasure Surfing, Camping, Skate exhibition.....live music. Have you been there? Any tips?
  21. What are the best search sites for live music if you're going out of town? Say Southern California? I know a few but I'm sure I don't 'em all! [color:red] thanks
  22. Happy Birthday....miss seeing you out.
  23. Happy Birthday Trev. Have a fantastic day!
