  1. I've called re: getting in on the lawsuit but have yet to hear back.
  2. "A person who fits within the court's definition of the class is automatically included in the class action unless he or she follows the instructions the court gives on how to be excluded." I would guess that the amount of money people spent buying tickets through ticketbastard and ticketsnowjob in the last two years would add up to more than just court costs.
  3. Though I was joking I think Tulipfest is the only way I'd see him.
  4. So, have any of you called the lawyers about getting in on the suit? From the link in the article: If you purchased a ticket from Ticketmaster or from TicketsNow for an event in Ontario, you may be able to participate in this action. To do so, please provide the information requested on the Communication page of this website or call one of the following lawyers: Jay Strosberg Luciana Brasil Sutts, Strosberg LLP 600-251 Goyeau Street Windsor, ON N9A 6V4 519.561.6285 (fax) 866.316.5308 jay@strosbergco.com Branch MacMaster 1410-777 Hornby Street Vancouver, BC V6Z 1S4 604.654.2960 (fax) 606.684.3429 lbrasil@branmac.com
  5. "They allege the defendants violated Ontario's "anti-scalping" laws, contending that the practice of selling tickets in the secondary market for amounts that exceed their face price violates the legislation." That seems pretty clearcut. Busted. As for Basher's defence that they weren't scalping but rather they are an innocent third party, well, isn't that what napster said?

    Grammys

Watched about four minutes of the Grammys and realised I was wasting my time even more than usual and turned it off. Kid Rock was great when I saw him at Bluesfest. Kinda like seeing George Thorogood; if you can let your IQ slip down a few notches into lowest common denominator range you're in for a rockin' good time.
  7. I never, ever use purple.
  8. Especially when YT swoops in with such astuteness.
  9. I enter a lot of contests, I always have, and I've won a few times too, but I've always wondered why Quebec residents are often inelegible. I just entered a contest today to win a guitar signed by Derek Trucks, and in the rules it said, "The Contest is not open to residents of Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Syria, North Korea, Myanmar (formerly Burma) Sudan, Puerto Rico or the province of Quebec." Puts Quebec in suspicious company.
  10. I'm in for tonight right after snowboarding if I don't go straight to the hospital or the morgue.
  11. Always interested in seeing what you got going. Hide your tequila. Or don't.

    RC: phish

Last night I went through my ticket stub books and found that I've seen twenty Phish shows (that's counting weekend things like Clifford Ball as two), starting in July, 1994. I actually thought the number was higher than that. This is why I'm extra stoked to have tickets to nine upcoming Phish shows, and through the miracle of timing and Fridays off, I'll only be missing three days of work to catch the shows. Hampton Hampton Hampton 2nd night NY MA PA Deer Creek Alpine Alpine Woo-hoo!
  13. I'll bet all my money that very highly paid lawyers recommended the writing of that letter. In all likelihood the letter was written by a team of very highly paid lawyers.
  14. I heard on the radio this morning that Obama has created a rule that if you want a gov't bailout your CEO must take a pay cut to $500,000. Given that many of the bank CEO's were making more than $50 million a year this seems like an idea that will be very popular amongst the average Joe. Can't help but wonder though, if a businessman is making $50 million a year and he knows he can maybe save his company by taking an enormous pay cut or he can squeeze one or two more years out of his company at full pay before he grinds it into the ground, well what would a smart businessman do?
  15. What do you know about Bruce Peninsula? They're here in Ottawa on Friday.
  16. Dear Congressman Pascrell, When will people stop whining? Ticketmaster is doing nothing illegal, and thus should be allowed to carry on with their business unfettered. How many times must I say this?!?! Sitting in for Basher, -velvet
  17. For the record, I support him and everyone who quits. I'm just saying, as a guy who has quit smoking hundreds of times, from that post I can tell this is his first time quitting. There's always a bit of a sheepish period when one starts again, but even moreso after loudly and publicly professing about having stopped.
  18. He's gonna feel pretty stupid for writing that when he starts smoking again two months from now.
