    Bass Gear...

I know we had some posts on this in the past. But I am in a situation where I need to upgrade my gear to 'playing live' level fairly quickly. I don't really know the gear very well, so does anybody have any recommondations on what is good, and what to stay away from. I am looking for a 3 to 4 hundred watt amp minimum, and don't really know the accessories needed either. I don't really have an amount to spend in mind at this point, but I will probably know the gear I want when I hear it. I am probably going to buy used if possible. I do have a 6-string Washburn and 100Watt Crate amp that I am going to sell or trade. I do have several of the bass sites that I am looking at, but as usual on the Web, information-overload, so I thought I'd ask around here. And if you, or somebody you know has any for sale, let me know. Cheers!
  2. Happy Birth you bassy guy.
  3. I have had my instruments for a long time but really only ever got so far, really just played around on them, and often put them down for years at a time. I've been very much in learning mode recently. I have a few I have started jamming with here, but looking for others as well, want to really keep myself into the music this time. Bass and a little keys here. In Mississauga. (Love to start a funk or Afro-beat thing).
  4. I do have to say that I really enjoyed these guys the last time I saw them. It's my bro's birthday that night, and I am going to try to drag him down to this (depends on how turkey-stuffed we are).
  5. Very glad I made it in to the show... nice to dance with the Hamilton folks again.
  6. Before I even entered this thread, I knew it could be none other than one of my biggest musical heroes... ... glad to see it was decided upon early in the thread.
  7. I haven't read through this entire thread, not sure if it is still just 'Rock' singers or all female singers, but my vote goes to Aretha Franklin, Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell, and whoever the singer of Oneness of Ju Ju is. All stellar.
  8. Thank your brother for this one... just had a great de-stressing laugh.

  10. Anything going-on pre or post-show, think'n of making the trip in for this.
  11. Man, looks like this is shaping up to be just a swell evening.
  12. I hear that there's a Scissor Sister's ticket available... sounds like a present well suited to Woman's Day.
  13. I can think of little else that deserves a reason to celebrate more than women. ... far better than celebrating all of those greeting card holidays.
  14. May have to make it to Nawlins for that then... I almost made it to Nawlins for the first time a couple of weeks ago to see Passenger... how is that place? They are playing at the Mustard Grille in Mississauga both nights this weekend.
  15. Living in Mississauga, I've been looking for venues near me that put on some good shows (and there sure ain't many I tell ya). But I found this one for a funkfest in Brampton of all places, think I'll be checking it out and thought I'd pass it along in case there are any others on this board in that area as well. I haven't seen all three of the bands listed, but have seen LMT Connection a couple of times now, and they are fantastic (going to see them this weekend too!). Cheers. http://www.lmtconnection.com/index.htm
  16. My soul is jingling with joyous anticipation while my liver shakes in fear.
  17. Trust me, the 'think what you want, and you get it" thing just doesn't work... I tried it. After all these years, I am still not a billionaire porn-star rock-god that owns a brewery and is married to twin models, who can turn invisible and make the best smoothies ever ...
  18. I think I've seen these guys once before... they're pretty good.
  19. And if you can get them... the old Hilarious House of Frankenstein episodes... the best.
  20. Wow... that's like a fram-by-frame reenactment of my trying to get out of bed the day after my stag.
  21. I'd be there if the transit system in Ontario didn't absolutely blow.
  22. My daughter absolutely loves the Wiggles. She has a few of their DVDs, but there is one in particular, called something like "Magical Adventure", that is actually pretty good and much better done that most of their shows, even if you can't stand them. I hate to admit it, but there are actually some cool songs on it. Also, I just got her "The Adventures of Shark Boy and Laval Girl" that has a 3D version on it, and it comes with 4 pairs of 3D glasses, we have been having a great time with that one. As well.. I am trying to get her into Herbie Hancock (actually had him playing during her birth).
  23. After many a year of business trips to companies manufacturing god-awfully boring products, with a few interesting sites in between, I finally have a trip to somewhere very cool. Heading to the CF Martin manufacturing facility in Nazareth, PA. Hopefully they will have a reject section of guitars/Ukulele's with scratches that they can't sell!!
  24. Ooooohhhh... now I get it.
