  1. I was just looking at some old music stuff online, and found a picture of an inner sleeve from an album by a punk band called Hype that I ended up on in the mid-80s. Can anyone else spot me? Link (Of course, if you've never met me you probably won't be much help here.)
  2. He was like that in the mid-80s or so. It's been a long time since Dave had that kind of prickish attitude, that we all used to know and love.
  3. #293 Songs about Dudes named Frank 1. Lemonheads - Frank Mills 2. Drive-By Truckers - Uncle Frank 3. Bob Dylan - The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest 4. Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water
  4. Oh, sorry. I didn't realize that was a quote. It sounds like you and I are equally cynical that these movies do much to help correct the propaganda-created perspective of the masses and powers-that-be. [color:purple]Thanks Nancy Reagan!
  5. Either that, or they're being viewed by hordes of people who already support the idea of de-demonizing pot. I hope you're right.
  6. I just learned that Neil's wife, Peggy Young, just finished recording her own disc, and will be opening up the show at Massey Hall. I've seen her sing duets with Neil a number of times. She has a nice enough voice. We'll see how good her solo stuff is. (Maybe she had some help writing it, by some old legendary songwriter or something. We can hope!) Should be neat, anyway. EDIT TO ADD: [color:purple]I just thought about it, and I'll betcha he's just bringing his wife to open up, so he doesn't have to share any of that cash he's getting for those overpriced tickets with any musicians outside the family.
  7. I consider gouging to be intentionally charging as much as you possibly can, and still sell out every show. I think Neil is intentionally charging less than he could get away with. A gouger would charge as much as he could get away with, I would think.
  8. I think that in this particular case it's also relevant to mention that Neil does do plenty to help out the less-fortunate. I've seen him play a benefit show at an arena in a small town, in front of 2500 people. He did it to help out a small group who were fighting the local powers that be, against using very polluting fuel sources. I know that he did that show without being paid a cent, and incurred cost to get himself there. He's also incarnated and repeatedly played other benefit shows to help others in need. In my opinion, Neil isn't gouging in this case because he could charge much more, and he is altruistic enough in other ways that his character can't be impugned. Just my opinion.
  9. Okay. How much would be fair? Who should decide?
  10. It appears Neil would agree with you, Ollie, therefore he is charging a fraction of what the market will bear. I was paying more than fifty bucks per ticket to see Neil play huge stadiums twenty years ago. Was that too much? He sold tens of thousands of tickets. Maybe he should have charged less? It's now twenty years later, and he's playing a tiny venue. How much would be fair? Who decides? Is there some objective price that tickets "should" be?
  11. Yes. He is. He knows he can charge 800 more per ticket. By charging less, it's a deal for us.
  12. If he wants to, sure. The fact is, he isn't.
  13. Well, I don't know you in real-life, but I feel like I've known you now for years, so allow me to be the first to say it online... Happy birthday!
  14. This is not gouging, at all. Neil could charge a thousand dollars for each ticket at Massey, and sell out 10 nights straight. It's his job. He is earning a living. He's rich? So what? He is still entitled to charge for his work, and he is charging a lot less than the market will bear. That's pretty obvious, considering tickets for Massey were going for a thousand each on stubhub.com after the pre-sales and before they were even released to the general public.
  15. In all seriousness, I will definitely be serving someone that way some day. There were a couple of evasive Defendants in Whistler who would have fallen for it. (Frankly, if I had thought of this idea before, about six weeks ago I would have served a politician that way, who was being evasive. It would have been hilarious when it hit the news. Next time.)
  16. Today, I got a call from my receptionist to come out and get something that was delivered to me. As I accepted this colourful gift-bag, I was thinking, "Hey, am I being served with a Statement of Claim commencing some sort of lawsuit against me, contained in this pretty bag?" (It was a baby-gift; and I am clearly paranoid.)
  17. I'm not sure who Denise Richards is, but Pamela Anderson is just gross. (I mean her appearance. I don't know her or anything about her. She may be very nice, but that's not the the topic in this thread.) She looks like she's literally made of plastic. I can't be the only one who thinks so, am I?

  21. haha..awesome No problem. If I win the tickets, that's when and where I'll start the mosh-pit.
