  1. I did not know that! Beautiful song.

  3. Try not to sing or hum it now. I dare you!! Takes me back to Frosh Week in my first year, at U of Guelph. That was on the Frosh Mix cd I recall.
  4. No its a guy here in Korea who is getting rid of his.. So I should be able to check it out beforehand. I think its a pretty reasonable price the more I look in to it. Hmmm. I bought a new Dell laptop about a year and a half ago and it was only a 40 gig HD. (that computer was lost. )
  5. Thanks alot AD... I was trying to avoid all contact with that song for the rest of my life. #241 Summertime Songs 1. The Beach Boys - Surfin' USA 2. Blotto - Lifeguard 3. 6. What kind of jazz were they playing Hal? Remember any of the tunes?
  7. I'm no pro either but I think 2GB DDR RAM is a big deal (?). As for Centrino 1.8Ghz CPU, not sure if thats a big deal or not. 100gb HD is pretty sweet too.
  8. ha HA! I tracked down a few more dates for Tallboys.. found these on Matt Brubeck's site. June 22nd 8pm Tallboys with multi-instrumentalist Kevin Breit, Jesse Stewart (percussion) Perimeter Institute 31 Caroline St. N, Waterloo, ON July 19th Tallboys with multi-instrumentalist Kevin Breit, Jesse Stewart (percussion) Atlantic Jazz Festival Halifax, NS (the lineup for that Atlantic Jazz Festival looks pretty sweet by the way, including Bill Frisell) I always feel sneaky and detective-like when I'm able to track down Kevin Breit performance dates. Seems like he tries hard to conceal where he's going to be playing. (or just doesn't like having fans showing up? i dunno.)
  9. I just saw on the Guelph Jazz Festival site that on June 12th there was a TALLBOYS gig: Kevin Breit (guitar), Matt Brubeck (cello) and Jesse Stewart (drums). Did anyone perchance to catch this show? Looks like a great lineup.
  10. This guy is selling his used Dell Latitude D800 for the Korean equivalent of about $920 Canadian. Its pretty loaded with memory and ram and gigs and whatnot (?). What do you think? Here's what he's got: There's been some debate going on in the poster's original thread which provides some more food for thought too, if you've got the time! Is this deal any good?
  11. Sounds High Fidelity ish.. Also a great book.
  12. Has anyone out there ever heard Ben Keith's solo album? It's called 'To A Wild Rose' and it came out in 1984. Here's some info on it: 1984's To A Wild Rose (En Pointe), featured his steel along with the guitar of J.J. Cale and Paul Butterfield's harmonica (it would be the legendary bluesman's last recording). I also learned that that's Ben Keith alongside Patsy Cline on "I Fall To Pieces". http://www.thecoolgroove.com/ben.html
  13. The Iron & Wine and Calexico EP has some sweet pedal steel on it.. "In The Reins" and "16 Maybe Less" come to mind. That Lanois album 'Belladonna' is amazing! Phish's studio version of "Roggae" has some cool pedal steel by Gordon Stone. For something different, the song "Not Your Enemy" by The Slackers heavily features pedal steel and they are a reggae band. I'm gonna check out that Ryan Adams album!

    trippy site

i just wasted a good 25 minutes on that thing!
  15. Afternoon Delight in Anchorman is pretty damn good!

Paul Simon (& Linda Ronstadt) - Under African Skies 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12.
  17. Great lineup, and nothing too too overwhelming like the last 2 years. Jade McNelis is amazing. (and with connections to the The Slip camp and the BSS camp, fwiw). Check out her MySpace page for some sweet tunes. Kung turned me on to her.
  18. I think we had a category in the Legendary 12 Song Album Game that was similar to this topic.
  19. WARNING: 'HALF NELSON' SPOILER, kinda: The most memorable for me (partly because I saw it just recently; partly because it was amazing) is the scene in HALF NELSON where the girl goes in to that motel room where that party is going on and sees her teacher, and sells him the crack. Broken Social Scene's song "Shampoo Suicide" is on. Its the climax of the movie and it goes over brilliantly!
  20. Every Spring, Korea faces "yellow dust" storms, where particles of sand are blown over here from the Gobi Desert in China. The sky looks really hazy and its hard to tell if its just another polluted day or if its yellow dust. It makes a lot of people sick (myself included) with a cold, if you're out in it too long.
  21. # 236: Songs that your fellow siblings or other people in your family would play that drove you NUUUUTTZZZZZ (add relation in parentheses if you like) 1. Men without Hats - Safety Dance (brother!) 2. Graham Kendrick - Shine Jesus Shine (sister, father) 3. Oasis-Wonderwall (sister) 4. Proclaimers - 500 Miles (DaveyBoy) 5. EMF - Unbelievable (sister) 6. Irish Rovers - Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer (sister. no, not grandpa) 7. Insane Clown Posse- no clue what song, there was many (my sister) 8. Raffi - Hi God 9. 10. 11. 12.
