  1. Nope but I definitely would've gone if I'd known about it! Ah well.
  2. Ha! I guess it ran 1997-2001 or so.
  3. My friend Ian went down to Nashville to see the Ramble on tour at the one and only Ryman Auditorium back in July. He was going to do a write-up on it but never got around to it. Anyway, there were a huuuuuge list of guests: Emmylou Harris Buddy Miller Sam Bush Sheryl Crow John Hiatt Ricky Skaggs Lee Roy Parnell Little Sammy Davis Fred Carter Jr. I really hope to go to one of the Rambles in the next 6 months or so.
  4. Jay -- THAT's the one! Thanks.
  5. That's not the one. The one I'm thinking of is all done by one guy. He's a columnist in several local magazines too.. Thanks for showing me that site though!
  6. Hey! There's a website that I'm trying to find.. I believe it is some guy's blog. It is a really good resourceful shows listings page of shows in Toronto. I think its fairly popular among indie rockers and the like but I can't find it! I've seen someone mention it on here before too. Can anyone help me out?
  7. Went down to the Dakota last night to see Tony Scherr, CHris Brown, Kate Fenner and friends. We got there late and only caught Tony Scherr and his band but I'm telling you he is SMOKIN!!! Tony Scherr plays bass usually. He's the bassist with Bill Frisell on East/West, with Scofield on Bump, etc. Also he's in Sex Mob. He's got a Thurs night residencey at the Dakota right now (and one in NYC on MOndays, busy man!). Its great to see a band SO on top of their game. Pretty Pavement and Dinosaur Jr. inspired at moments I thought. But then also country tunes. Sarah Harmer was hanging out all night, and I saw Dave Bidini drop by for a bit. THey're all on a new compilation disc for Robert Kennedy's Waterkeeper Alliance foundation. ANyways, to make a long ramble short, check out this THursday gig at the Dakota its good.
  8. i will hopefully be there!! it starts in 3 minutes though, so its looking a bit shakey.
  9. I think its basically BSS.. Not sure though.
  10. The Prince Brothers play for free in the front room at The Cameron House.. F'n sweet tunes! http://www.myspace.com/princebrothers The Prince Brothers are singer-songwriters, Eric and Bryan Prince. Multi-instrumentalists who write music with an earthy feel; as if it was born on a crystal pond north of Huntsville and fed on blossoms and ladybugs, until it developed into something beautiful. With their increasing musical achievements, growing fan base and formidable gifts and talents, the brothers have evolved from velour clad popsters with critically-acclaimed live shows, to gracious, charming songsmiths, with indie-cred coming out of their wazoos! Now, The Prince Brothers invite you to listen with wide-eared wonder to something as simple and earnest as 'Cedar Shakes'. An intimate and meaning-potent musical experience, with songs ostensibly about love and the disasters therein. This, their latest album in a career spanning more than ten years, is a return to what motivated them as musical artists in the first place. As Eric puts it, "songs of honesty and truth." From this statement comes an album of boldness and beauty that grasps to realness and heartfelt emotions. 'Cedar Shakes' is a modest album borne partly of rebirth. Since the dismemberment of the brothers former band, Boyce's Road and periods of recording with widely ranging results the brothers needed to refresh and refocus. A retreat from the wild-eyed society saw The Prince Brothers holed up in a cabin in the northern woods with acoustic guitars and a Tascam 8-track to create this collection of introspective works.
